Corbas brings together aviation, an agricultural landscape and leisure activities. Options range from the network of trails on the Grandes Terres plateau to the facilities at Parc de Loisirs, aviation collections at the airfield and a guided tour about the fruit and vegetable trade. When planning your visit, a good starting point is the type of experience you want: nature trails, specific leisure activities and guided tours each offer a different focus.

Landscape and trails

Corbas is part of the Grandes Terres plateau. This protected agricultural area covers 600 hectares and is open to everyone, with due regard for farming activities. The area has three trails and eight access points. The trail network offers a practical way to make the agricultural landscape the focus of your visit.

The plateau provides a habitat for 40 bird species, including pheasants, partridges, quail and skylarks. One trail with a particular connection to the fields is the Sentier des Alouettes: it runs alongside agricultural plots used mainly to grow cereals. You may be able to spot skylarks there; sightings are seasonal and not guaranteed. So if you choose the trail for the skylarks, don’t count on seeing them for certain.

Leisure at Parc de Loisirs

Parc de Loisirs on Route de Marennes covers 18 hectares. Its features include a picnic area, landscaped paths and protected natural vegetation. The freely accessible outdoor facilities include a skatepark, a Ludipark, a BMX track, a fitness trail, a fitness area, a multi-sport court and playgrounds. The facilities are open daily during the park’s opening hours.

Usage requirements vary by facility. The skatepark is designed for beginners and experienced users; unsupervised use is permitted from age eight. The Ludipark is intended for children aged 6 to 12, the fitness trail for ages six and up, and the fitness area for ages 14 and up. So when planning your visit, consider which facility you want to use: an age requirement for one area does not automatically apply to the whole park.

Airfield, museum and skydiving

Corbas airfield covers 100 hectares and is designated a Zone Naturelle d’Intérêt Écologique, Faunistique et Floristique (ZNIEFF), or Natural Area of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest. The Musée de l’Aviation Clément Ader is located at the airfield. It offers guided tours of its aviation collections. If you plan to take a tour, check the visitor arrangements in advance.

The airfield’s club bar is also open to the public and offers a view of skydivers landing. The museum and club bar therefore offer different ways to experience the airfield: guided tours of the collections or watching the landings.

A closer look at the fruit and vegetable trade

A guided tour of Marché de Gros Lyon Corbas explains distribution channels in the fruit and vegetable trade, the role of a wholesale market and the features of the Corbas market. Here, the focus is not on a landscape or leisure activity, but on the fruit and vegetable trade. If you plan to take the tour, check the current arrangements in advance.

To choose an experience based on your interests, consider the type of visit: the plateau and Parc de Loisirs focus on the landscape and outdoor activities, respectively; the museum and wholesale market offer guided tours about aviation and trade. Skylark sightings remain seasonally uncertain, while park use is subject to opening hours and, in some cases, age requirements.
