A hall with a retractable seating arrangement, changing exhibitions and historic bridges offer different ways to experience Brignais’s culture. There are also walks through the town centre and a guided route through a sensitive natural area. To plan your visit, you can first choose between performances, local history and outdoor trails: each offers a different focus.

Cultural programme and art venues

Le Briscope is Brignais’s cultural centre. Its retractable seating arrangement accommodates 374 people, and its varied programme includes musical, theatrical and dance performances. If a particular performance is important to your trip, check the programme for your travel dates.

Espace Guy de Chauliac is a cultural and art venue in the historic centre, where changing exhibitions are held. Another cultural landmark is Saint-Clair Church, one of the sights in the Vallée du Garon. Its Stations of the Cross were created by painter Patrick Marquès.

Bridges and their history

The three arches of the Pont-siphon du Garon have been listed as historic monuments since 20 March 1912. The Pont Vieux in Brignais dates back to the Middle Ages. Its two stone arches are about four metres high; since 1934, the bridge has been included in France’s register of historic monuments.

The Pont Vieux can be visited independently, free of charge, every day throughout the year. Groups can choose a self-guided or guided visit. As access details should be checked again before a planned visit, it is best to confirm them in advance.

Town walks and trails along the Garon

The freely accessible Itinéraire au cœur de Brignais introduces the town’s cultural heritage and notable sights. The Promenade au coeur de Brignais is a circular route through the town centre: it passes, among other places, the Hôtel de Ville park, Guy de Chauliac Hospital and the Pont vieux over the Garon. Each offers its own way of exploring the town; the promenade names specific stops in the centre.

The guided 8.5-kilometre Balade privilège au bord du Garon has a different focus. It passes through the sensitive natural area of Vallée en Barret and takes in a Roman aqueduct, an old mill and viewpoints along the way. The guided nature trail and the walk with stops in the town centre therefore differ mainly in their described destinations and guided format. Check booking requirements and availability for the Balade.

The Via Garona passes the intermunicipal AquaGaron and connects five municipalities along a route of more than 16 kilometres. It therefore covers a longer distance than the walks through Brignais described above. As conditions along the route can change, check them before planning your trip.

Exercise and relaxation

AquaGaron combines sport and relaxation while taking environmental protection into account. Check the current facilities before your trip. Brignais’s skatepark is free to access, covers 1,000 square metres and is divided into three areas. Children aged four to seven may use it when accompanied by a parent.

Parc de Rochilly is suitable for family walks and relaxation. Check access conditions before visiting. This lets you choose between a cultural focus, a walk through the town and opportunities for exercise or relaxation, while keeping the different visiting conditions in mind.
