Lac de Paladru is a natural lake of glacial origin: it is 5 km long, 1 km wide and covers 392 hectares. Paladru offers different ways to spend your stay: activities on the water, trails through a designated natural area, and archaeological and historical sites. You can tailor your trip to what interests you most, rather than treating the attractions as a single itinerary.

Activities on Lac de Paladru

Activities on Lac de Paladru include fishing, sailing, rowing, diving, water skiing and walking. The range therefore goes beyond water sports alone. Rules for some activities may change; check the relevant conditions before planning your visit around them. Plaisilac offers access to the beach and rents out stand-up paddleboards, pedal boats and kayaks on Lac de Paladru. Rental availability is seasonal; check in advance if you plan to use one of these services.

Paladru’s municipal beach is equipped, accessible to wheelchair users and has a children’s playground. Seasonal facilities may change; check the site’s condition before your visit.

Nature trails with different highlights

At 1 km long, the Chemin des marais de la Véronnière et du Courbon is a short route through an area designated as an Espace Naturel Sensible. Four information points help visitors discover the site’s remarkable flora and fauna. The trail connects the two shores of Lac de Paladru between Paladru and Montferrat. The Voie verte du lac de Paladru offers a longer route: it is 14 km long, starts in the north at Paladru and leads to the municipal beach. The routes thus differ both in length and in their stated focus: nature information points on the shorter Chemin, and a connection to the beach on the longer Voie verte.

Archaeology and architectural history

The Musée archéologique du lac de Paladru (MALP) invites visitors to explore its archaeological lake collections through 600 remarkable objects. The museum offers workshops year-round for children aged 3 to 12, as well as for teenagers and adults. Check the current program before your visit if you plan to attend a workshop.

The château and chapel each highlight different aspects of history. The first buildings of Château de St Pierre are thought to date from the second half of the 16th century and to have been built by the Revol family. Chapelle des Trois-Croix stands on a hill above the village of Paladru. Its origins are unknown; according to Abbé Millon, its foundation is said to date back to 1523. Thus, the chapel’s unknown origins sit alongside the date attributed to Abbé Millon, while the historical information about the château concerns its first buildings and their presumed date.
