Épagny is an urban municipality surrounded by the Mandallaz. Different perspectives are available to help you plan your trip: a protected work of art in the Church of Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens, opportunities for physical activity at the municipal level, and experiences in a range of formats. By distinguishing between these highlights, you can plan your day around your interests rather than treating every activity as an equivalent item on the itinerary.

Local Character, Landscape and Heritage

The sculpture “Vierge à l'Enfant assise dite de Lorette” is located in the Church of Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens. The work, made of polychrome-painted wood, dates from the late 16th or 17th century and is protected as an object. Its specific name, material and date give the sculpture a clear art-historical connection to Épagny.

Le Grand Epagny offers a different historical perspective: it lies on the site of a former marsh that was drained in the 19th century. Together, the sculpture and this landscape history represent different periods—religious art and the area’s former terrain. This makes it possible to understand the place both through a single cultural object and through the transformation of its landscape.

Getting Active in Épagny Metz-Tessy

The landscaped pump track in Gillon, Épagny Metz-Tessy, is open to the public and free of charge. It has three courses for different skill levels and is designed for BMX bikes, mountain bikes, scooters, skateboards, kick scooters and balance bikes. The facility thus brings together several wheeled activities with courses divided by skill level. When planning, you can consider which equipment you want to use and which course suits your ability.

Épagny Metz-Tessy also has the Parcours gymnique et de découverte, a fitness and discovery trail, and the Espace sportif et culturel des Iles, a sports and cultural center. Both complement the pump track as additional named points of reference for physical activity and culture at the municipal level. Together, the three offerings provide different options: a trail, a sports and cultural facility, and the pump track with its different wheeled activities.

Interactive Experiences and Different Formats

Fort Boyard Aventures offers at least 30 challenges in reconstructed cells. Teams of two to five people can create their own course from 34 cells. Options include physical challenges, tests of dexterity and balance, and puzzles. The format combines teamwork with the choice of which challenges to include in the course you create.

Sensas offers a two-hour challenge involving taste, touch, hearing, smell and sight. A “Maître des Sens” accompanies participants throughout the experience. This sets it apart from a freely assembled course: here, both the time frame and the focus on the five senses are clearly defined.

E.réel Annecy has a 300 m² virtual reality area with more than 80 immersive experiences. These include VR escape games, shooting games and multiplayer challenges, retro arcade games, and explorations alone or as a team. Offerings may change; check which experiences are currently available before your visit.

You can compare the formats by duration, structure and activity: Sensas is designed to last two hours, teams at Fort Boyard Aventures create their own course, and the pump track offers three courses and a range of wheeled activities. These criteria can help you compare experiences with different focuses without reducing them to a single itinerary item.
