An 800-metre loop trail in the Arboretum de Beauregard and the Via Venaissia, which runs through Jonquières, provide a clear framework for a trip focused on nature and cycling. Historic buildings with different stories add to the experience: from centuries of family ownership to a former role as a hunting lodge.

Arboretum and Via Venaissia

The Arboretum de Beauregard has an 800-metre loop trail that is accessible to everyone. There, you can discover Mediterranean plant species, olive trees from the south of France and the biodiversity of the wetlands. The different themes make the walk a nature experience with several perspectives: plant life, olive trees and wetlands sit side by side, rather than defining the site by a single feature.

The arboretum is freely accessible and can only be reached on foot or by bicycle via the Via Venaissia. This route runs through Jonquières and crosses the Comtat Venaissin. It is intended to form a 30-kilometre tourist link route. The Via Venaissia is therefore a useful reference point for planning your trip, especially if you would like to combine cycling with a visit to the arboretum. Check local access conditions and the current route before setting out.

Historic sites and different perspectives

The Château de Causans and its hamlet have been owned by the same family for nine centuries. The Château de Pécoulette has a different past: it was once a hunting lodge belonging to the Princes of Orange and was altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The two sites thus represent different aspects of history—long-standing family continuity on the one hand, and former use and later alterations on the other.

Le Clocher adds a tangible architectural perspective. Its apse is pentagonal and supported by buttresses. Gargoyles shaped like human heads and openwork Gothic-style windows are among its architectural features. The oldest part of Le Clocher in Jonquières probably dates from the 15th century. When choosing a cultural focus, you can therefore distinguish between Causans and Pécoulette, which tell stories of ownership and use, and Le Clocher, whose architectural features and cautious dating make it of interest.

Visits and seasonal planning

At Château Malijay, private guided tours are offered on request. Product tastings are also available there, though their availability may change. If you are planning a tour or tasting, confirm what is available before your visit.

Fêtons les tulipes de Jonquières is a seasonal event that is free and open to the public. A secure pedestrian access route is provided to a visitor plot. As event arrangements may change, check the latest dates and access information before planning your visit. The different visitor experiences call for different preparations: for the arboretum, the access route and mode of transport matter; for Malijay, you need to make an enquiry; and for the tulip festival, the seasonal dates are important.
