Bonnieux offers a variety of things to discover during a stay: garden landscapes, historic buildings, exhibitions, wine and the cedar forest of the Petit Luberon. The garden is open by appointment on Thursdays from May to October; Pont Julien is freely accessible every day throughout 2026, although conditions may change temporarily.

Visiting the Garden by Appointment

The Jardin de la Louve is a Provençal garden covering 1,600 m², laid out across two or three terraces. It also holds the French “Jardin remarquable” designation. Its size and terraced layout give it a distinctive character as a landscaped garden. From May to October, the Jardin de la Louve is open to visitors on Thursdays by appointment. Arrange your visit in advance and check the visiting conditions before travelling, as the schedule may change.

Church, Fortifications and Roman History

The Église Haute, also known as the Vieille Église, can be reached via a staircase with 86 steps, shaded by centuries-old cedars. Bonnieux also preserves remains of 13th-century towers and fortification walls.

Pont Julien takes you back to a much earlier era: it was built on the Via Domitia and probably dates from between 27 BC and AD 14. By contrast, the 13th-century fortification remains represent a much later chapter in the town’s history. In 2026, Pont Julien is freely accessible every day throughout the year. As conditions may change temporarily, check accessibility before your visit.

Exhibitions and Wine

The Fondation Blachère moved to Bonnieux’s former railway station in 2023. It holds solo and group exhibitions at this location. If you’re planning your visit around a particular exhibition, check the current programme in advance, as individual exhibitions may change.

Borélis – Cave de Bonnieux is considered the oldest cooperative winery in the Vaucluse department. Wines from the AOC Luberon and AOC Ventoux appellations can be tasted on site. This brings together a local wine tradition and two specifically named appellations. Tastings and conditions may change; check them before travelling if you’re planning to take part.

Cedar Forest South of Bonnieux

The Forêt des Cèdres lies a few kilometres south of Bonnieux and covers about 250 hectares. Atlas cedars define the forest on the ridge of the Petit Luberon. This landscape offers a different focus for your stay than the historic buildings: on the ridge, the forest and Atlas cedars take centre stage, while in Bonnieux the church and fortification remains are the prominent features of its architectural heritage.
