La Motte lies in an extensive wine-growing area crossed by the Nartuby. Wine, village life and historic sites each add a different dimension to a stay. Marked trails and other activities offer further options for planning your trip.

Wine and Village Life

Les Vignerons de Saint Romain is a member of the Route des vins de Provence. In La Motte, the winery offers free wine tastings and sells products from the local terroir. The Marché Provençal adds a regular gathering place to village life: it takes place year-round every Friday in the village square and offers products from local producers. A visit brings together regional products and a weekly market, without the need for a special event date.

Even a short walk leads to a landmark in the village: from the main square, you can reach the Tour de l’Horloge. From there, you can enjoy a view of the surrounding countryside. The tower combines a walk through La Motte with a panorama of the vineyards that define the area.

Church and Remembrance

The Église Saint Victor was built on the remains of a Romanesque priory. It houses a gilded wooden altarpiece, which is listed as a Monument historique and is dedicated to Saint Quinis. Its building history, religious dedication and the altarpiece’s designation make the church a cultural destination in its own right.

The Mémorial du Mitan commemorates the airborne troops’ service and the start of Operation “Dragoon” during the landing in Provence on August 15, 1944. It is located on the D 47 towards Bagnols-en-Forêt. If you plan to visit the memorial, check the conditions on site before setting out.

Trails and Activities

The grounds of Château des Demoiselles include 72 hectares of vineyards. Four free, marked hiking trails run through the vineyards and forest: the Sentier vigneron is 2.1 kilometres long, the Sentier boisé 3.8 kilometres, the Sentier de l’Endre 6.8 kilometres and the Sentier des Roches rouges 8 kilometres. The options range from the shortest route to the longest, and the two middle-length trails differ in distance as well. Mountain biking, quad biking, buggy driving and off-road scooter riding are also possible on the grounds. The trails and motorized activities offer different ways to experience the area.

Mountain biking, fishing, and horseback or pony rides are also available from La Motte. The Saut du Capelan waterfall is 35 metres high and is located 500 metres from the village. As local access conditions may change, check them before your visit. This allows you to plan around specific places and activities rather than treating everything as a single excursion.

Events

The Galoubet Festival is a spring event; a children’s carnival is also among the cultural events highlighted in La Motte. If either event is a key part of your trip, check the specific dates in advance.
