Each theme has a specific point of interest—from a walk starting at the town hall to the indoor museum at the Maison de la Géologie et du Géoparc.
Walks and Historic Trails
Le petit tour des Puys starts at Puy-Saint-André town hall. The walk takes 50 minutes and covers 150 metres of elevation gain. This provides a clear timeframe and elevation figure to help you plan the outing into your day.
Le ravin des Merles is a 7-kilometre hiking loop starting in Puy-Saint-André. It follows historic trails that climb the heights of Puy-Chalvin before descending towards Pierre Feu. Along the way, you can discover chapels, frescoes, canals, terraces and walls. The two routes offer different ways to plan your outing: the Petit tour can be assessed by its duration and elevation gain, while the ravin is defined by its distance and historic route. The regional Réserve Naturelle des Partias is another nearby natural attraction, close to Puy-Saint-André.
Frescoes and Church Architecture
The Chapelle Sainte-Lucie has frescoes on its exterior façade and interior vault. The Lamentation is depicted outside, while 23 scenes depicting the life of Jesus can be seen inside. The façade’s named subject and the multi-scene depiction in the vault offer distinct points of interest in art history.
The Eglise Saint-André was built in the 15th century in the Romanesque-Lombard style. Its nave consists of four bays and ends in a polygonal apse. The nave is the elongated main space; the bays divide it up as far as the choir. Its construction date, style and layout offer several specific features by which to understand the architecture. The Chapelle Sainte-Lucie dates from the 16th century. It therefore complements the Eglise Saint-André, built in the 15th century, with a later construction date; the chapel is notable for its frescoes, while the church is distinguished by the layout of its nave.
The Cadran Zarbula de Puy-Saint-André is on the façade of the former presbytery. The building is now called La Kimpina.
Geology and Astronomy
The Maison de la Géologie et du Géoparc in Puy-Saint-André is dedicated to scientific tourism. Its outdoor geodrome traces the geological history of the Alps along a path. The indoor museum features numerous interactive educational activities. The geological theme is presented in two distinct ways: through an outdoor display along a path and through interactive exhibits in the museum.
A planetarium also offers an introduction to astronomy. Its programme may vary by season; check which programme is scheduled for your visit before you go.
