The Les Orres resort is located above Lake Serre-Ponçon. The Les Orres hiking network includes more than 200 kilometres of trails; the resort also offers the Bike Park, the Musée Orrian and the Pôle Sport Innovation. When choosing a destination, it is worth considering these different highlights separately: hiking, downhill biking, culture or specific sports facilities.
Hiking and downhill biking: different highlights
The hiking network includes more than 200 kilometres of trails. The Les Orres Bike Park has 12 downhill trails and spans elevations from 1,600 to 2,600 metres. This means there are different criteria to consider: for hiking, the size of the trail network; for the Bike Park, the number of downhill trails and their elevation range. The size of the hiking network may change as routes are added or removed; the number of Bike Park trails may also change if the park is redesigned in the future.
Musée Orrian and cultural heritage
The Musée Orrian showcases the region’s rural heritage and illustrates life in the past through objects and tools on display. A different theme is presented each year in the first room. The Les Orres resort is also classified as 20th-century heritage. These are two distinct cultural points of interest: the museum’s portrayal of rural life and the resort’s heritage classification. If you are particularly interested in ways of life in the past, the museum offers a tangible connection through its objects and tools; the classification, by contrast, applies to the resort.
Sports facilities at the PĂ´le Sport Innovation
The Pôle Sport Innovation has five virtual reality simulators. The climbing and bouldering wall has 24 routes. These offer two different types of activity: a simulator-based experience, and climbing and bouldering. When choosing, you can consider which of these offerings interests you more. The availability of the simulators and the wall’s facilities may change. If either is a deciding factor for your trip, check the latest information before your visit.
Elevation as a guide
Elevation figures also vary by activity: the Les Orres ski area reaches up to 2,720 metres, while the Bike Park spans elevations from 1,600 to 2,600 metres. An upper elevation is given for the ski area, while a range is given for the Bike Park. This comparison helps put the different measurements into context if elevation matters when choosing your destination. Together with the resort’s location above Lake Serre-Ponçon, it provides a specific geographical reference for Les Orres. The ski area’s maximum elevation is 120 metres above the Bike Park’s upper limit.
