If you are considering La Joue Du Loup for a stay in Dévoluy, you can choose between alpine skiing, hiking, cycling activities and wellness. You can access the ski area from the resort; in summer, hiking trails lead through alpine pastures and forests, and La Joue Du Loup is one of two access points to the Dévoluy Bike Park. A heated outdoor swimming pool and other leisure activities add to the options. When planning, it helps to decide whether the slopes, outdoor activities or a wellness visit should be the main focus.

Skiing in Dévoluy: Size and Slopes

You can access the Dévoluy alpine ski area from La Joue Du Loup. The ski area, which connects La Joue Du Loup and Superdévoluy, has almost 100 km of pistes. In addition, the Dévoluy alpine ski area includes 52 pistes, ranging from green to black in difficulty. These figures answer different questions: the total distance conveys the size of the connected ski area, while the number and difficulty ratings give a clearer picture of its piste layout. If you are planning ski days, you can take both the overall distance and the stated range of difficulty into account.

There are two additional landmarks to help you find your way around the resort. Shops, the ESF ski school, bars and restaurants are just a few steps from the snow front. Place des boutiques is the resort’s central square, with bars, restaurants, butcher shops, cheese shops and boutiques. The snow front and the central square therefore provide different points of reference for getting around locally.

Hiking, Cycling and Horse Riding

Summer offers a wide range of hiking options: trails from La Joue Du Loup cater to all experience levels, passing through alpine pastures and forests and offering panoramic views over Dévoluy. Options range from family hikes to more challenging routes. You can use the level of challenge you are looking for as a criterion when choosing a hike, while also taking the scenery and views into account.

The resort is also a starting point for cycling: La Joue Du Loup is one of two access points to the Dévoluy Bike Park. Another seasonal activity is available at Les Sabots de Vénus, at the entrance to the resort. In July and August, children aged five and over can take riding and pony lessons, attend courses and go on rides there. If you are planning to take part in these activities, July or August is a practical consideration; the minimum age of five is also important when planning with children.

Multi-use Routes, Leisure and Wellness

From La Joue Du Loup, you can access 20 km of free-to-use multi-use routes. They are suitable for pedestrians, snowshoers, fat bikes, cross-country skiing and ski touring. The variety of uses lets you choose according to your activity: hiking and winter sports are both options, rather than the routes being restricted to a single mode of travel.

The heated outdoor swimming pool is another option on site. The Base de loisirs de la Joue du Loup offers table tennis, mini golf and tennis; tennis must be booked in advance. Check the leisure facility’s current opening arrangements before your visit.

For a wellness-focused stay, there is O’dycéa les Bains du Dévoluy, a 1,400 m² wellness centre in La Joue Du Loup. It includes a balneotherapy area and a spa area, as well as treatment rooms. This means that, alongside slopes, trails and recreational sports, you can also choose from specifically named wellness facilities.
