Coast and Landscape

Plage de la Dugue is primarily designated for swimming; it is closed to boats in summer. If you plan to spend time at the beach, take this seasonal rule into account and check local conditions before your visit. The area’s natural environment is also an important part of its character: 80% of Ensuès-la-Redonne’s territory belongs to the Conservatoire du littoral. In addition, the municipality is covered by two Natura 2000 sites and a Special Protection Area (SPA).

Hiking by Duration and Difficulty

The Bourgailles–Caucarières–Méjean trail is 4.2 km long and an easy, two-hour family hike through the forest massif, with sea views. It starts at the end of Chemin des Bourgailles, where parking is available, and can be extended to the port of Grand Méjean. Check local trail and parking conditions before setting out.

The La Redonne–Niolon trail requires more time and care: it is 8.6 km long and takes around four hours without breaks. The route starts at the port of La Redonne and passes the calanques of Anthénors and Figuières before reaching the ports of Petit Méjean and Grand Méjean. Caution is required on difficult sections caused by marine erosion; check erosion and access conditions locally.

La Redonne–Le Rouet is an easier family hike. The 4 km route passes the Calanque des Eaux Salées and leads to Plage du Rouet; the one-way walk takes around an hour and a half. Seasonal access restrictions may apply, so check local conditions before setting out.

For another distance option, the section of the Grand Sentier de la Côte Bleue in Ensuès-la-Redonne includes three circular routes: the 6 km Boucle du Fort de Niolon, the 4 km Boucle des Bourgailles Caucarières and the 6.5 km Boucle des calanques. For a direct comparison of durations: the Bourgailles trail takes two hours, the one-way walk to Le Rouet takes around an hour and a half, and La Redonne–Niolon takes about four hours without breaks.
