Beausoleil combines trails on Mont des Mules, historic buildings and a market offering local products. When planning your trip, you can choose from a range of interests: nature and archaeology, architectural history, or products made by local artisans. If you are looking for a hotel in Beausoleil, your main interest may help you decide.
Trails, archaeology and green spaces
The trail on Mont des Mules starts in Beausoleil, loops around the site and returns to Beausoleil on foot. The circular route leads to an information board with panoramic views of the Mediterranean coast. The route on Mont des Mules also leads to the remains of an oppidum built by Celtic-Ligurian peoples and listed as a historic monument in 1939. Coastal views and archaeological remains together shape the theme of this walk.
The ForĂŞt de Grima offers a walk through a green landscape in the heights of Beausoleil, with remarkable plant and animal life, a cliff face and caves. In a protected natural setting, the Parc sportif du Devens has a sports and leisure area overlooking the Mediterranean. The two natural spaces offer different experiences: one focuses on landscape and biodiversity, the other on sport and leisure.
The Parc de Grima covers one hectare and opened on October 18, 2021. Its facilities include a botanical educational trail and an outdoor learning area, as well as picnic spots, a fitness trail and space for cultural events. If you are planning a visit, you can check the latest information about the facilities in advance.
Architectural history and places of remembrance
The Riviera Palace is a former hotel built between 1898 and 1903; it has been listed as a historic monument since 1989. Guided visits focus on its magnificent winter garden. The Sanctuaire Saint-Joseph is a Neo-Romanesque church: construction began in 1913 and it was consecrated in 1923. It is the only sanctuary dedicated to Saint Joseph in the Alpes-Maritimes département. For the Riviera Palace, the dates mark its construction and subsequent listing; for the sanctuary, they mark the start of construction and its consecration.
Villa Juturne is also listed as a Belle Époque building in the Monuments Historiques. It features numerous decorations painted by its owner, the painter Patrizio Rogolini. The Foyer du Poilu is a historic site dedicated to the memory of the two World Wars and the Algerian War. In Beausoleil, buildings with varied histories stand alongside a place of remembrance.
Market and regional connections
The Marché couvert Gustave Eiffel is open every day and offers locally made artisan products, including cheese, cured meats, honey, exotic fruit and organic products. The market offers a different focus from the buildings and trails: here, the emphasis is on products.
The Via Julia Augusta passes through Beausoleil and forms part of its present-day route along the narrow coastal strip of the Menton, Riviera & Merveilles destination. This section passes through four municipalities: La Turbie, Beausoleil, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Menton. Beausoleil is thus expressly named as part of this regional route.
