In La Foux-D'allos, activities range from the Val d’Allos–La Foux ski area and snow tubing to hiking and mountain biking trails. The area also has a church with remarkable architecture, leisure and relaxation options, and a distinctive feature of Alpine flora.
Ski area and leisure activities
The Val d’Allos–La Foux ski area is part of Espace Lumière and connected to Pra Loup. It has 17 lifts and 43 runs: 5 green, 21 blue, 14 red and 3 black. Another measure is its 800-meter vertical drop. The distribution of runs may change with future developments.
At the Winter Park in Les Chauvets, you can go snow tubing: the ride down a synthetic track on an inflatable tube is for adults and children. The Winter Park is located above Club Piou-Piou and Village des Enfants. The activity's availability depends on the season and weather; check the conditions before your visit.
The Verdon Express is a summer and winter toboggan run that can be used year-round, near the Marin Pascal chairlift at the foot of the Col d’Allos. Its descent is 665 meters long with an average gradient of 12 percent; it is part of a 995-meter-long circuit. Check operating hours before your ride.
Crazy Park offers quad bike circuits, electric go-karts for children, inflatable play structures and a bungee trampoline. La Foux ice rink hosts musical evenings and other entertainment; the program may vary. Alongside the ski area, you'll find a variety of activities whose types and conditions you can consider separately when planning your day.
Hiking, mountain biking and nature
The Balade Aux Sources du Verdon hiking trail is 3.2 kilometers long. It has an elevation gain of 185 meters and a stated duration of 120 minutes. These three figures give you specific reference points to distinguish trail length, elevation gain and the time needed when planning.
The Sources du Verdon mountain biking route is a family-friendly mountain loop with a moderate elevation gain. Along the way, there's a viewpoint overlooking the sources of the Verdon and the valley of the same name. The two routes therefore differ not only in their mode of travel, but also in their stated measures: the hiking trail is described in terms of distance, elevation gain and duration, while the mountain biking route is characterized by its loop and moderate elevation gain.
The woolly berardia (Berardia lanuginosa) is also part of the area's natural heritage. The species is nationally protected and endemic to the Southern Alps. A nature information source from 2023 describes a population in the La Foux d’Allos ski area as being monitored annually.
Church and relaxation
At the entrance to the hamlet of La Foux stands the Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, probably built in the 17th century. Its single-nave layout has three bays beneath a semicircular barrel vault. These architectural details provide a cultural touch alongside the sporting activities: the focus here is on architectural form and history, not another outdoor activity.
For a different kind of experience, L'atelier Spa offers massages, body treatments and wellness rituals. This lets you add wellness to the range of options for your stay, beyond skiing, outdoor activities and culture, without conflating these distinct offerings.
Getting there by public transport
Traveling by public transport from Nice or Digne-les-Bains involves first taking a ZOU train operated by Chemins de fer de Provence, then a ZOU bus to Val d’Allos. Check timetables and connections before your trip so you can choose an itinerary that suits your plans.
