The route to Pointe Fine passes through pine forests, over alpine grassland near the summit and along a dizzying slate ledge. Chamois and mouflons are often spotted along the way. The forest, summit terrain, slate formation and wildlife viewing give the route a clear focus on nature.

Nature and Water

At the exit from Jausiers towards Col de la Bonette lies Plan d’eau de Siguret, a landscaped bathing area. Swimming is supervised during the season. The water area also includes a pump track, tennis courts, a climbing wall, play areas for children and shaded picnic spots. The facilities available may change; check the operating details before your visit.

Lac de Sagnes is different: it is a remarkable natural area in the municipality of Jausiers and is designated a Natura 2000 site. While Siguret offers seasonal supervised swimming and leisure facilities, Lac de Sagnes is designated as a natural area. This gives you two distinct points of reference if you are interested in the municipality’s waterside locations.

Culture and History

The Jausiers branch of the Musée de la Vallée explores water, including its destructive and controlled aspects. This adds a cultural perspective on the same subject to the leisure and nature aspects of the waterside locations.

The parish church of Saint-Nicolas de Myre is a Baroque church dating from the second half of the 17th century and has been classified as a Monument historique since 1921. The Mexican villas of Jausiers offer a different way to explore the town’s history: residents of the Ubaye Valley who had returned from the Americas built them in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Their architecture combines Neoclassical, eclectic and exotic influences in particular.

Exhibitions and Market Dates

The Centre d'art de Jausiers regularly presents changing exhibitions. On Mondays, it offers free guided tours of the exhibition by prior reservation. Tour arrangements may vary depending on the exhibition season, so check the dates and conditions for your preferred season in advance.

The weekly summer market takes place every Sunday morning in July and August. Local producers and travelling vendors offer cheese, honey, fruit and other goods. The selection and vendors may vary by market date. Check the specific market dates before your trip; the weekly market is a seasonal event and is not available year-round.

Routes and Access

The access road to Col de la Bonette and Restefond runs through Jausiers via the C1; the route climbs to the summit at 2,802 metres. As the road’s seasonal opening dates may vary, check the conditions before driving. A different route perspective is offered by the La Routo transhumance trail (GR®69): it passes through Jausiers and crosses the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence département in 15 stages before reaching Italy. The C1 reference concerns access to Col de la Bonette and Restefond; La Routo places Jausiers along a longer route.
