Chapelle-Viviers brings together historic buildings, a shady fishing pond and routes with different profiles. If you’re looking for a hotel in Chapelle-Viviers, it helps to first decide what kind of trip you have in mind: would you like to spend your time exploring architectural history, fishing, taking a picnic break or hiking? Depending on your plans, the key factors when choosing a route are its length, duration, difficulty and scenery.

Manor House, Church and Priory

The Logis de la Baudinière consists of a central residential building with two side pavilions set back at right angles. The present building dates from the 17th century and was remodeled in 1904. By decree of March 6, 1987, the facades and roofs, the staircase and the 17th-century fireplace on the ground floor were partially protected as a historic monument. The set-back pavilions define the sides of the complex.

The Church of Saint-Étienne has a single-aisle nave with a barrel vault and transverse arches. A single-aisle nave is the main longitudinal space without side aisles; the barrel vault forms a continuous curved ceiling, divided transversely by the arches. This makes it possible to distinguish the church’s layout from that of the manor house: there, the residential building and pavilions define the exterior arrangement, while here the nave’s structure shapes the space.

In the Middle Ages, the Priory of Theil-aux-Moines was affiliated with the Benedictine order. The order was founded in Tiron, in the Eure-et-Loir department, at the beginning of the 12th century. This places a medieval religious affiliation and the construction of the manor house in the 17th century in distinct historical periods.

Fishing Pond and Picnic

The Étang de pêche du Mouchet is a shady fishing pond with numerous facilities, including picnic tables, toilets, children’s play facilities and a campsite. At the Étang de La Chapelle-Viviers, the picnic area has an uncovered table for six people.

Choose Routes by Profile

The Sentier de la Chapelle-Viviers is an approximately 15-kilometer circular hiking trail in the commune of Chapelle-Viviers; the hike takes an average of four hours. It passes through the countryside of the Chauvigny region and alongside forests and ponds. The difficult Vallée de la Vienne circular route passes through Chapelle-Viviers, is 68.2 kilometers long and takes about five hours.

The two planning profiles differ considerably: the Sentier combines approximately 15 kilometers with an average hiking time of four hours, while the Vallée circular route, rated difficult, covers 68.2 kilometers in about five hours. Check current route conditions before setting out. La grande boucle de la Chapelle offers a different perspective on the scenery: the route runs between plateaus and valleys. If you also choose routes for their landscape, this gives you a specific criterion in addition to distance and duration.
