Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers combines walks to granite crosses with a tree trail, a natural area along the Viette and digital culture at the Micro-Folie. This offers a choice of different focuses for a stay: heritage along the routes, trees and landscapes, or a VR experience available at set times. If you are looking for accommodation, you can first decide which of these themes you want to shape your visit, then plan the specific routes or visiting times accordingly.

Hiking to Crosses and Trees

The Chemin des croix de granit has two circular routes, each around 20 kilometres long. They lead to the twenty granite crosses that form part of the local heritage of Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers. The approximate distance is a useful planning guide for anyone who wants to include this focus in their trip. There are also three family-friendly walking trails.

The Sentier des arbres follows the existing GR 36 hiking trail. Information boards and wooden totems introduce improved chestnut trees as well as pollarded willows, or pollarded trees from four different species. This trail brings specific tree forms into focus, while the Chemin des croix de granit explores the local heritage.

The pilgrimage route offers another perspective on walking in the area: the section of the Voie des PlantagenĂŞts that passes through Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers is part of the Way of St James between Mont Saint-Michel and Santiago de Compostela. On this section, the GR 36 and GR 364 cross paths.

Nature Between Wetland and Monumental Tree

The Val de Flore covers nearly three hectares on the banks of the Viette in Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers. Dry meadows and wetlands define the area. Unlike the Sentier des arbres, which highlights individual tree species and forms, the focus here is on the contrast between two types of landscape. If you are weighing up nature-themed options for your stay, you can choose between a tree-focused trail and an area with both dry and wet habitats.

Another named natural feature is the ChĂŞne du Hibou, also called Robert le Chouan. It is classified as a natural monument. A municipal description dated 14 October 2025 estimates its age at 500 to 900 years.

Digital Culture at the Micro-Folie

The Micro-Folie is located in the former presbytery next to the library in Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers. Its Digital Museum offers access to more than 5,000 digitised works. The VR area complements this digital cultural offering and is open to visitors aged 13 and over on Saturdays from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. If you plan to include this particular activity, check the opening times before your visit.

Cycling Services and Accommodation

The Halte Vélo de Soutiers offers charging stations for bicycles and phones, as well as a bicycle cleaning station and a repair station. There is also a tent camping area with four pitches. This means you can factor cycling services and the option of camping in a tent into your trip separately.

L’Étape welcomes hikers, pilgrims on the Way of St James and artists in residence. This is a specific point of reference for planning accommodation if you belong to one of these groups. The walking trails, natural area, Micro-Folie and cycling facilities offer different highlights; plan your stay around the themes that interest you most.
