The Église Saint-Saturnin and the fishing stretch along the Seugne offer two different ways to discover Mosnac: Romanesque architecture and a stretch of water considered fairly unspoilt and rich in fish. For planning your overnight stay, the Les Bords de Seugne campsite is a practical option to consider. Horse-riding activities and a mountain bike trail add to the range of active pursuits.

Romanesque architecture at the Église Saint-Saturnin

The Église Saint-Saturnin is predominantly a Romanesque building. Its façade features a distinct rhythm of arcades characteristic of the Saintonge region. Inside, the church has Romanesque capitals decorated with depictions of griffins and lions. A capital is the uppermost part of a column or pillar; the animal depictions are therefore a specific detail of the Romanesque decoration. The rhythm of the façade and the figurative decoration inside create distinct architectural accents.

The Église Saint-Saturnin was designated a Historic Monument of France by decree dated 19 March 1990. This connects the study of its architectural form with a clearly dated reference to the monument's history.

Fishing on the Seugne

The fishing stretch in Mosnac is considered fairly unspoilt and rich in fish. It includes the confluences of the Seugne with the Trèfle and the Maine. A confluence is the point where watercourses meet; here, both of the named confluences are part of the fishing stretch described.

When planning your visit, pay particular attention to access to the main channel: it can only be reached via the unpaved road from Clion. If you are heading to this main channel, make sure to take the unpaved road into account in your plans.

Stay at the Les Bords de Seugne campsite

The Les Bords de Seugne campsite offers direct access to the Seugne River. Accommodation options include pitches for motorhomes, caravans and tents, as well as two fully equipped mobile homes. The same site therefore offers pitches and mobile homes as different types of accommodation.

When deciding, you can consider two questions separately: What type of accommodation are you looking for, and is direct access to the river important to you? Confirm the availability of your preferred accommodation before booking.

Horse-riding and mountain biking

The Domaine équestre de Favières offers riding lessons and hourly rides, as well as one- or half-day horse-riding tours. Guided walks with Shetland ponies are available for very young children. The options therefore differ not only in the time they require, but also in their format. Confirm the availability of your preferred activity before booking.

The Circuit VTT N°3 – À la rencontre de la Seugne is 34.4 kilometres long and takes about three hours. For planning your time, you can compare this approximate duration with the horse-riding options: an hourly ride or a half- or full-day tour. Check trail conditions before setting off.
