Discover L'Houmeau through its varied coastal attractions: Port du Plomb, a typical oyster harbor; Anse de Pampin and its beach; and the protected Marais de Pampin. There is also a named trail and a park with old trees and a historic family heritage. This gives you several themes to choose from when planning your visit—from seaside walks to birdwatching.

Harbor and coastal paths

Port du Plomb is a typical oyster harbor with whitewashed houses. L'Houmeau shares it with the neighboring town of Nieul-sur-Mer; a wooden footbridge connects the two places. The harbor is therefore a shared landmark for both towns.

A coastal path leads from Port du Plomb to L'Houmeau's beach. The route runs between limestone cliffs and hidden coves, with ĂŽle de RĂ© in view. If you're planning a walk by the water, this offers a direct connection between the harbor and the beach, with distinctive coastal scenery along the way.

Plage de Pampin is in Anse de Pampin, opposite ĂŽle de RĂ©. It's suitable for walks. This gives you two distinct coastal experiences: the route from the harbor, with its cliffs and coves, and the beach itself as a place for a walk. ĂŽle de RĂ© features in two different settings: in view from the coastal path and opposite the beach.

Marais de Pampin: protected marshland

Marais de Pampin is also located in Anse de Pampin. The former bay has become a protected marshland and is designated as an “Espaces Naturels Sensibles” (Sensitive Natural Area). The area is a place for birdwatching. Unlike the beach, the focus here is on observing nature; the coast and marshland thus reveal different landscapes within the same bay.

Trail, park and local specialties

The Terra Aventura trail “Les Perles du Plomb” runs through L'Houmeau. It is 6.5 kilometers long and can be completed on foot or by bicycle; allow two to three hours. Its length, mode of travel and time frame make it easy to plan as a separate block of time. Check the route details before setting out.

L'Houmeau's park is home to trees that are at least a hundred years old. The park is an 18th-century legacy of the Méric de Beau Séjour family. The old trees and family heritage add a historical dimension to the town's coastal and natural attractions.

You can sample seafood in huts near Port du Plomb. As this offering may change, check whether tastings are currently available before visiting.
