Discover Guitinières through three distinctive features: the Église Saint-Romain, two cycling routes through different landscapes, and La Ferme enchantée, which offers visits by appointment. Together, they provide several ways to shape your stay—around Romanesque architecture, a bike ride, or a look around an ostrich farm. The time of year and appointment are particularly important for the farm. If you are looking for accommodation in Guitinières, you can start by deciding whether culture, cycling, or a pre-arranged farm visit will be the focus of your stay.

The Église Saint-Romain

The Église Saint-Romain was built in the 12th century and retains its Romanesque nave and sculpted portal. Its fortress-like appearance comes from the nave roof being raised with the help of crenellated pillars. The church is protected as a Monument historique, with listings recorded for 1925 and 2000. These listings relate to its protected status and should be distinguished from its construction in the 12th century. The nave, portal, and roof shape thus offer different architectural features to look out for.

Cycling routes with different highlights

Cyclists can choose from two routes featuring different landscapes. The signposted Bouclette vélo N°10 – “Le Ruisseau” is 10.5 km long and starts at the church in Guitinières. It follows public roads, is considered easy to ride, and passes through gently rolling, varied countryside of fields and wooded areas, along streams. It crosses the Maine River over a bridge. This gives you a clearly defined starting point and route—a useful guide if you want to include a signposted loop of a known distance in your plans.

The Circuit VTT N°9 – “L'étang d'Allas-Bocage” mountain bike loop passes through varied landscapes, from the Maine Valley to the Seugne Valley, as well as numerous forests and hillsides. The routes therefore offer different features to consider: “Le Ruisseau” is described by its length, starting point, and public roads, while the VTT route is characterised by its valleys, forests, and slopes. These differences can help you choose a route to suit your preferred type of cycling and landscape.

La Ferme enchantée: appointments and season

La Ferme enchantée in Guitinières offers guided tours of its ostrich farm by appointment. Visits are available by appointment every day, year-round, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. From March to mid-October, visitors may see ostrich displays, breeding, the hatchery, and young ostriches. The year-round visiting period and seasonal observations answer different planning questions: when an appointment can generally be made, and when these observations are possible. Arrange your visit in advance, and bear in mind that the observations mentioned are available from March to mid-October. The La Ferme enchantée farm shop also sells processed products from ostrich and snail farming.
