Quend offers several ways to enjoy a trip focused on nature and culture: you can discover the local dune habitat, choose a trail through varied landscapes or include the attractions of Quend-Plage-les-Pins. A nearby bird sanctuary is also one of the possible nature destinations.

Dunes and wildlife watching

Within the municipality of Quend, the Dunes du Royon stretch between Fort-Mahon and Quend-Plage. There is an educational trail with information panels about the dune habitat and wetlands. The trail focuses not only on the landscape but also on the habitats themselves. Quend-Plage-les-Pins also has preserved wild dunes and a pine forest that is unique on the Picardy coast.

Another highlight awaits you in nearby Saint-Quentin-en-Tourmont, between Le Crotoy and Quend: the Parc du Marquenterre, a bird sanctuary. Its visitor trail is 6 km long, and there are also 13 observation posts. The educational trail and the sanctuary offer different experiences: in Quend, information panels explain the dunes and wetlands, while the Parc combines wildlife watching with a longer visitor trail and numerous observation posts.

Trails through dunes and countryside

The Le Colombier route starts at a car park in Monchaux on the road to Quend-Plage. It runs through fields and meadows, between bushes and woodland, along paths bordered by small streams. The landscape is characterised by farms. Check the local signs before setting off.

The Dune du Royon route can start in Quend-Plage and head towards Fort-Mahon; the reverse direction is also possible. It passes through an extremely fragile dune habitat with numerous plant species and many birds. This makes its landscape focus markedly different from that of Le Colombier: fields, meadows and small streams shape that trail, while this one centres on the fragile dune habitat.

Culture and special experiences

Quend-Plage-les-Pins combines nature with cultural attractions: it has a chapel with hand-painted stained-glass windows. The Cinéma Pax in Quend-Plage-Les-Pins offers a weekly updated cinema programme. If you plan to go to the cinema, check the programme for the relevant week.

The Asinerie du Marquenterre is a visitor farm open to the public. It was founded in 2003 and opened to the public in 2004. The experience includes direct contact with the farm animals. Check current access arrangements before your trip. This keeps the historical opening date separate from the practical planning of your visit.

Arbre et Aventure offers an acrobatic course in the forest as well as archery battles. It operates seasonally. Take the season into account when planning, rather than assuming these activities are available year-round.

Choose Quend as your place to stay

When looking for a hotel in Quend, you can first decide which aspect of the destination you want to shape your stay: the dunes and educational trail, birdwatching at the nearby Parc, or cultural attractions such as the chapel and cinema. The trails also differ in their landscape. These highlights can guide your search without combining the different places and experiences into a single outing.
