Glisy offers a variety of discoveries side by side: a vast communal marsh, an art walk through the village, a church with its own architectural history and aviation activities. Choosing your focus is the first step in planning. Visitors who want to combine nature and exercise will find different options from those interested in art, architecture or air sports.

Nature and exercise at the Marais communal

The Marais communal covers 32 hectares. Ponds, wet hollows, pools and streams shape the landscape, along with grazed and mown meadows and areas of scrub and woodland. Its ecological status is also part of its character: the area is classified as a ZNIEFF and includes a small Natura 2000 area. This combination of water and varied vegetation gives the marsh its distinctive character.

Two boardwalks connect the Marais communal to the towpath along the Somme. The marsh is also connected to the Vélo Route Vallée de Somme. A sports trail has also been created there, open to children and adults. The area is currently also used for recreational fishing. Walking, cycling, using the trail and fishing are all different ways to include this natural area in your travel plans—without combining them into a set route.

Art walk through Glisy

“Les arbres en sculpture” is an art trail that links the northern and southern, as well as the eastern and western, parts of Glisy. The sculptures create visual pauses at strategically important spots in the village. The trail also offers places to stop and moments of visual calm for Glisy residents and visitors from elsewhere. This project is therefore about more than individual works of art: it is also about how they are distributed around the village and shape a walk through Glisy.

Visitors who like to include culture in their stay can also visit “Le Trait d’union,” a cultural venue created jointly by Longueau and Glisy. It supports artistic production and creation, as well as training, outreach and dissemination. The venue provides artists in the Amiens metropolitan area with spaces to work and perform. The art walk and “Le Trait d’union” represent different kinds of cultural offering: an installation in the village on the one hand, and a venue for artistic work and performances on the other.

Church and local history

The parish church of Saint-Léger was built between 1876 and 1879 to plans by the architect Victor Delfortrie. Inside, it has chapels dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint Thérèse. The building dates, architect and dedications offer specific points of interest for anyone wishing to explore local architecture alongside the landscape and art.

Aviation activities and travel planning

The Aéroclub de Picardie Amiens Métropole offers sightseeing flights, introductory courses and flight training for aeroplanes, gliders and multi-axis microlights; flight training also includes three-axis microlights. The Amiens-Glisy airfield allows the club to welcome groups and associations for its aviation activities. Confirm availability and bookings directly with the club before your trip.

At the traditionally held “20000 lieues dans les airs” event, visitors can take sightseeing flights in an aeroplane, glider or microlight. As the event dates and whether it will continue need to be confirmed separately, check before making plans. This event is therefore different from the club’s general activities, whose availability should also be checked in advance.

Glisy is served by bus routes L14 and N1. As routes and school-term-dependent timetables can change, check the schedule for your travel dates. If you’re looking for hotels in Glisy, you can begin your search by deciding which experiences matter most to you: the Marais communal, the art walk, the cultural offering or aviation.
