At the foot of the eastern slope of the Amboise and on the edge of ponds lies Estrébœuf. The village offers different ways to explore: an easy walking trail connected to a river and its tributary, as well as examples of architectural and art history. The Circuit de Drancourt starts in the hamlet of Drancourt and ends in Estrébœuf. The Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and the Chapelle Pérache de Neuville add a cultural dimension. This allows you to focus on the landscape or heritage according to your interests.

The Circuit de Drancourt and its waterways

The Circuit de Drancourt is an easy walking trail. Its starting point is in the hamlet of Drancourt, on Chemin des Bruyères, opposite the campsite in Estrébœuf; the destination is Estrébœuf. It is useful to distinguish between the two for planning purposes: Drancourt is the named starting point, and Estrébœuf is the destination. Keep both points separate when planning the walk as part of your stay.

A small bridge crosses the Amboise River along the Circuit. Along the route, the Amboise receives the Drancourt tributary. This means the walk features two distinct connections to water: a river crossing and a tributary flowing into the Amboise. Together with its easy rating, these features give the walk a clear character. If you are interested in the Circuit, you can take into account not only its start and end points but also the waterways that shape its route.

Chapel, stained glass, and painting

The Chapelle Pérache de Neuville was built around 1850–1860. A different period is represented by the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Estrébœuf: it houses stained-glass windows by Latteux Bazin dating from 1895 and a painting donated by the Prince of Wagram in 1868. The painting is predominantly blue. When viewing the artworks, it is worth distinguishing between the two: the painting and the windows have their own dates, and the painting was donated before the windows were created.

The church’s architectural history extends beyond these works of art. During a renovation between 1997 and 2000, it received a completely new roof. Several distinct aspects can therefore be considered side by side: the chapel’s construction around the middle of the 19th century, the painting’s donation, the later stained-glass windows, and the church renovation. The dates help you view construction, decoration, and structural changes as separate chapters, rather than combining them into a single historical period.

Choose the focus of your stay

When looking for a hotel in Estrébœuf, you can start with your interests. Would you like to make your stay primarily about an easy walk, or are you more interested in architectural and art history? This decision can help you compare specific options according to your own priorities. Check each hotel’s location and amenities directly in its listing so your choice suits what you would like to experience locally.
