Vineuil-Saint-Firmin can be explored through three distinct themes: the “Un balcon sur le château de Chantilly” cultural trail, historic buildings and Golf de Chantilly. For planning your trip, it helps to consider these themes separately: the walk has a clearly defined time frame, the church and Ferme de la Ménagerie offer tangible examples of architectural history, and golf here comprises two named courses. This will help you decide which theme should shape your stay.

Cultural walk and route lengths

The “Un balcon sur le château de Chantilly” cultural trail is 5.2 km long and takes 1 hour 30 minutes. Its length and duration give you a concrete time frame for planning. As local walking conditions can change, you should check them before setting off. The route follows the former railway line for 700 m. Alongside its cultural theme, this section adds another historical dimension to the walk.

Marked GR and PR hiking trails are also designated in Vineuil-Saint-Firmin. When choosing a route, you can therefore distinguish between the specifically named cultural walk and the trails marked in the village. A separate length is given for Allée des 8 rangs, also known as Allée Verte: it is 2.7 km long. Both names refer to the same avenue. Its length is a separate point of reference alongside the cultural trail’s route details; the duration of 1 hour 30 minutes applies to the walk.

Viewpoint and waterway

Vertugadin is a viewpoint overlooking Château de Chantilly and its park. Below, the Nonette flows past; at this point, it is also called the “Grand canal.” The two names help with orientation: “Grand canal” is another name for the Nonette here. The viewpoint, château and park on the one hand, and the waterway below on the other, provide two distinct reference points for the landscape around Vineuil-Saint-Firmin.

Buildings along the cultural trail

Ferme de la Ménagerie is privately owned and partially protected as a Monument historique. The cultural trail passes by the farm. Its name and partial protected status give the estate a specific place in the village’s architectural history, while the church offers another historical focus.

The cultural trail reaches Église Saint-Firmin. Connétable Anne de Montmorency had the church built between 1540 and 1543. It is a Late Gothic building with stained-glass windows dating from the 16th century. Its architectural style, construction date and windows can thus be considered as three distinct aspects of its history. Access to the church interior may vary; bear this in mind if you are planning to visit inside.

Golf de Chantilly

Golf de Chantilly is located on Allée de la Ménagerie in Vineuil-Saint-Firmin. It comprises the Vineuil “Old Course” and the Longères course; both are 18-hole courses. Their shared 18-hole feature makes for a clear point of comparison, while their names distinguish the two courses. Together with the cultural trail, this offers different themes for a stay: a walk with a stated route length and duration, or golf as a separate focus. Operating availability may change, so check specific playing options in advance.
