Mouy combines architectural history with practical leisure activities: you can explore the town through its church architecture and local history, or add activities in Parc George Sand, on the Thérain and with the cycling club. To plan your stay, you can first decide whether to focus on historic buildings or include club activities. The different themes give your stay distinct points of interest without requiring a set sightseeing itinerary.

Gothic Architecture, Château History and Design

Église Saint-Léger is a Gothic building whose construction spanned the 12th to the 17th century. Its polygonal choir dates from the third quarter of the 12th century, making it an early-dated feature within the long construction history. The church has been classified as a historic monument since 28 May 1936. The contrast between the long overall construction period and the more precisely dated choir is particularly revealing for understanding its history.

The Château de Mouy is associated above all with the history of the Wars of Religion. Today, only a small part of the château remains. During the 16th-century Wars of Religion, it served as a refuge for Protestants in the region; the citadel was captured and recaptured during several conflicts in this turbulent period. Here, a limited surviving structure meets a turbulent regional history.

Pavillon Gréber offers a different architectural perspective. This early 20th-century building is classified as a historic monument and was created through a collaboration between architect Fidélie Bordez and ceramicist Charles Gréber. Its design combines Art Nouveau with elements of the Bäderstil: bay windows, lavish decoration and rounded windows are Art Nouveau features; half-timbering and a roof projecting on corbels refer to the Bäderstil. If you want to compare styles, this building brings together several clearly identifiable features.

Théâtre de Mouy also adds to the picture of the town's history. The Prince family had the theatre built in 1896. After the building was acquired in October 2023, it was renovated with the aim of using it as a multicultural venue; performances and concerts resumed. If you plan to attend an event, check the programme and access details in advance, as both may change.

Park, Industrial History and Activities

Parc George Sand has a fitness trail, a playground and a book box. The site was formerly home to the J-M Paillard factory, known for making watercolour and wash tablets. The park therefore combines its leisure facilities with an earlier chapter in Mouy's industrial history. Its facilities and the factory's history offer two different perspectives on the same place.

On the Thérain, AAPPMA de Mouy maintains a Category 1 fishing stretch. It also runs an Atelier Pêche Nature for children. If this activity suits your travel plans, ask in advance about dates and the applicable participation requirements for children; dates and age requirements may change.

For cyclists, Vélo Club de Mouy organises mountain bike or road cycling outings every Wednesday and Sunday morning. Both formats are part of the club's programme, so you can take your interests into account when planning. Check with the club in advance about taking part, as the current arrangements may change. The club outings differ from the town's culture-focused attractions and can become a separate focus of your stay.

Getting There and Planning Your Accommodation

Mouy-Bury station is 600 metres from Mouy's town centre. If you plan to use the station for your journey, you can use this distance as a guide to its proximity to the centre and check the TER service that suits your travel date. When looking for accommodation, it helps to decide on your preferred focus in advance: architectural history, the park and industrial history, or an event connected with one of the club activities will lead to different daily itineraries.
