A rare dry heathland, a double church with construction phases dating from the 13th and 16th centuries, and a family business with a long brickmaking tradition give Allonne a variety of distinctive features. For your choice of activities, this means nature, religious architecture and craftsmanship each offer a separate focus for your stay.

Church architecture and landscape

The Church of Saint-Symphorien and Notre-Dame de l’Annonciation stands in the heart of Allonne. It is a double church incorporating a two-bay chapel dating from the 13th century. In the 16th century, a second nave was built to the north of the original Romanesque structure. The two construction phases give the architecture a clear chronological division: the chapel and nave belong to different centuries and can therefore be understood as separate stages in the building’s history.

The Bois des Coutumes also stands out for its distinctive combination of features. Its dry heaths are rare in the region and unique in the Beauvaisis. Only four hectares of these open habitats remain. The rest of the area consists of oaks, hornbeams and chestnuts on the plateau, with ash and maple trees growing on the slopes. The rare open heathland and varied woodland thus coexist within the same natural area.

The Bois des Coutumes can be visited independently and free of charge on a permanent basis. As access conditions may change, please check them before your arrival.

Brickmaking tradition and craftsmanship

Allonne’s industrial history is associated with Briqueterie Dewulf and the Briqueterie Brocard, puis Dewulf complex, which includes several work areas. The complex comprises an industrial kiln, a production workshop, a repair workshop and drying areas. Briqueterie Dewulf is a family business in Allonne that has preserved traditional clay-processing know-how since 1856. Groups can learn about the history and techniques of brickmaking; please arrange the details of your visit with the business.

The historic Briqueterie Dewulf site also includes a Hoffmann kiln that is still in operation. Its operating status may change, so please confirm whether a visit is possible before making arrangements.

Confectionery and other visitor experiences

Mon Pari Gourmand is an artisan chocolate and confectionery workshop in Allonne. Since 1957, it has preserved family know-how in the making of sweet specialities. Visitors can learn about the production process and the distinctive features of its products. Please check the visiting arrangements before your trip.

For a different experience, Spa Le Patio in Allonne covers 850 m² and includes a whirlpool, traditional hammam, sauna, sensory tunnel, snow shower and salt wall. Here too, you should check the visiting arrangements before your arrival.

Allonne’s attractions range from architectural history and brickmaking to landscapes, confectionery production and spa facilities. Their specific differences can help you decide what to focus on: the Bois des Coutumes offers the option of an independent nature visit, while insights into brickmaking are intended for groups. For visitors especially interested in production, Briqueterie Dewulf and Mon Pari Gourmand offer different perspectives: clay processing at the former, chocolate and confectionery at the latter.
