In Louverné, walking trails in a central green space, a circular route linking several stops and traces from different eras come together. When planning your visit, it is worth considering the route and visiting times separately: one route connects several places, while public access to individual sites depends on scheduled events.

Walking Trails and Circular Route

The Les Fours à Chaux – Trail circular route starts in Louverné and is 9.4 km long. It passes through the coulée verte and by Étang de la Vannerie and the Echologia site. Its route therefore links several different stops. Route details may change; check the latest route description before setting off.

If you want to use the trail with a GPS device or other navigation device, you can export GPX and KML files. Their availability may change, so check the files before your trip. An app with GPS or audio directions is available for the Louverné Trail Station circular route.

The coulée verte and Étang de la Vannerie

The coulée verte is in the heart of Louverné and covers five hectares. Small ponds lie along the Fontaine stream. The green space supports biodiversity and wetlands, and also has walking trails. This central green space thus combines specific natural features with the opportunity to explore on foot.

The walking trails within the coulée verte offer a different focus from the 9.4 km circular route, which passes through the green space and by other stops. You can focus on the area in the heart of the town or choose a route that links several places along the way.

At Étang de la Vannerie, there are picnic tables and a children's play area. If these facilities are important to your plans, check their current status before visiting, as facilities may change.

Traces from Different Eras

These sites represent different chapters in Louverné's history. The first traces of lime production at the La Vannerie site in Louverné date from the 1720s. Lime kilns and water-filled quarries have been preserved. The reliquary of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus is in Louverné's Saint-Martin parish church and dates from the 19th century. The Grotte de la Roche reaches further back in time: it contains traces of people from the Upper Palaeolithic and engravings about 20,000 years old.

Public access to the Grotte de la Roche depends on scheduled events. Domaine Echologia is a private event venue and opens to the public only on special dates during the year. The circular route passes by the Echologia site; if you want to visit the Domaine itself, check whether a suitable event is taking place during your stay.

When looking for a holiday rental in Louverné, it helps to first identify the kind of itinerary you want: would you like your stay to focus on walking trails and a circular route, or do you want to plan visits that depend on special dates? This lets you treat route choices and visiting times as separate planning considerations.
