Le Fuilet brings together landscape, ceramics and local history as different elements of a trip. The Landes du Fuilet are known for their forests, heathland and wetlands; the Maison du Potier and the Village Potier association draw attention to ceramics. There are also trails with different profiles: an interpretive trail explores traditional occupations, while other routes are listed for mountain biking and horse riding. This lets you choose nature, craftsmanship or outdoor activity as different focuses for your stay.

Nature and walks

The Landes du Fuilet form a protected natural area in the south of the Maine-et-Loire department, in the Pays de la Loire region. Forests, heathland and wetlands lie side by side here. Rare and protected plant and animal species make this landscape ecologically valuable.

A guided tour of the Landes du Fuilet explores four areas: the quarry, pit, heathland and forest. You can take a longer walk around the Étang des Bruyères. The guided tour explains the four landscape areas on site; the walk around the Étang des Bruyères offers a different focus and a longer walking option in the natural area.

Ceramics and local history

The Maison du Potier offers exhibitions, guided tours and educational activities throughout the year. The Village Potier association holds three annual exhibitions on different ceramics themes; dates and themes may vary. As dates and themes vary, check which exhibitions are on before your visit.

The Chapelle des Recoins offers a tangible connection to local history. It was built in 1948 by local craftspeople at the residents’ request, using bricks from an old kiln. Its construction date, community-led origins and reused materials bring its history to life. The chapel thus complements the exhibitions and ceramics themes with a glimpse of a local building project.

Trails and planning your time

The “Les métiers d'antan” interpretive trail features information panels about traditional occupations and inherited craft knowledge. It starts and ends in Le Fuilet, is 7.4 kilometres long and takes about 2 hours and 40 minutes on foot. The difficulty level is moderate. With a walking time of about 2 hours and 40 minutes and a moderate difficulty level, you can plan the trail as a longer activity for the day.

The orange-marked Chemin des Potiers is 27 kilometres long and starts at the Maison du Potier. The 100-kilometre La route d’Artagnan is listed as a mountain biking and horse-riding route; it can be started in Le Fuilet or Le Puiset-Doré.
