The Sèvre Nantaise flows through Boussay, shaping a varied landscape in every season. Distinct themes also stand out: the history of the Église Sainte Radegonde et Saint Sébastien, the mills along the Sèvre, and several named routes. When planning your trip, you can decide whether you are primarily looking for riverside and cultural landscapes, a particular cultural heritage site, or a leisure area with specific facilities. The attractions offer different highlights and can be considered according to their respective features.

Riverside landscapes and routes with varied highlights

The Circuit des rochers offers landscapes featuring the Sèvre nantaise, the Vendée bocage, mills, and small stone villages. The focus here is on the broader landscape. By contrast, the family trail Murmures de Rochers « Arbre à Palabres » draws attention to individual tree species: it teaches visitors to identify them throughout the seasons by their silhouettes, leaves, and fruits. The 2.5-kilometre route is of moderate difficulty and takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. The nature themes therefore differ: landscape features on the one hand, and identifying trees on the other.

Two more circular routes start at Place des Marronniers in Boussay: the Circuit de l'eau is 5.9 kilometres long, while Flâneries entre murs et murmures is 2.1 kilometres long. Both start from the same place, but differ considerably in length. If you are choosing based on distance, Flâneries entre murs et murmures is the shorter loop; the Circuit de l'eau covers more kilometres.

The church and mills as cultural heritage

The Église Sainte Radegonde et Saint Sébastien was built in 1875 to replace a priory chapel that had stood since 1100. The building’s history therefore dates back to 1100, while the church itself was built in 1875. Inside the church are frescoes depicting the stories of Sainte Radegonde, Clothilde, and Fortuna. The older chapel, the church building, and the subject of the frescoes offer several cultural points of reference in the history of the area.

The mills are also part of the Sèvre’s character. Moulin du Feuillou is currently the only mill still in operation among the mills along the river. If its operating status matters to your travel plans, check again before your trip, as this may change.

A leisure area at Bassin des Lavoirs

Bassin des Lavoirs offers a different focus for your visit than the historic sites and routes: this publicly accessible leisure area includes a pond, picnic tables, and a children’s playground. If, when choosing a destination, you would like to consider a recreational area as well as the landscape and local history, the basin is a distinct option. The pond, picnic tables, and playground describe its specific facilities. This means you can discover Boussay not only through its historic buildings and routes, but also through a publicly accessible leisure area.
