The Parc de Passy slopes down the hill of Passy to the Seine. Its central lawn is distinguished by remarkable trees, notable for their shapes, colours and blossoms. A path lined with flowering arches and trellises covered in climbing plants leads to a gloriette.
Green spaces and their distinct features
The Parc de Passy also has a 200 m² children’s playground with equipment for children under 14, as well as six fitness machines. Individual pieces of equipment may change; if a particular facility is important to you, check on site. This means you can enjoy landscaped paths and trees in the park, as well as places to play and exercise.
The Jardin du Ranelagh is home to three Turkish hazel trees, measuring 19, 21 and 28 metres tall. These precise measurements give a tangible sense of the trees’ different sizes. The Jardins du Trocadéro offer a different perspective: the promenade has a view of the Eiffel Tower, and numerous sculptures stand around the water basins. The trees, park design, views and sculptures each offer a different way to choose between the green spaces.
Monet and Balzac: art and literature
The Musée Marmottan Monet houses the world’s largest collection of works by Claude Monet. It is located in Paul Marmottan’s preserved Empire-style hôtel particulier. The collection and building bring together two distinct interests: Monet’s work and the house’s historic architecture. If you plan to visit the museum, take Métro Line 9 to La Muette or Ranelagh, or RER Line C to Boulainvilliers. Check current services before setting off.
The Maison de Balzac is a landmark of literary history. In his study, Balzac revised his entire work La Comédie humainefrom 1840 to 1847. This time span describes a specific body of work carried out at this location, adding a glimpse into Balzac’s workshop and working process to the area’s focus on art.
Aquarium and seasonal performances
The Aquarium de Paris was built for the 1878 World’s Fair and was historically known as the Aquarium du Trocadéro. It presents the largest collection of jellyfish outside Japan: 50 species are displayed in rotation across 24 tanks. The programme also includes temporary exhibitions, conferences and educational activities, all included in the admission price. As programme details may change, check the current offering before your visit.
Guignol performances in the Jardin du Ranelagh also run during a specific season and on specific days of the week: they take place from March to November on Wednesdays, Sundays and public holidays. Check the current programme before your visit. This lets you combine the museum and park themes with activities taking place at the time of your visit.
