Malaunay combines traces of its milling and industrial history with opportunities for walks along the Cailly and municipal leisure facilities. When planning your visit, you can focus on different things: historic sites, wildlife watching in the park, swimming or paths through wooded areas. The details can help you put together an itinerary based on your interests.
Mill history and historic sites
The “Vieux Moulin” is all that remains of the former Pellerin factory. The turbine is also part of this history: it was installed on a slab beside the Cailly as part of efforts to restore ecological continuity. Alongside the factory’s former use, this puts a specific piece of technology in the spotlight.
The site of the former Offroy factory had two mills from 1820 onward. They were used in turn as a grain mill and an Alizary mill, before being used to operate the spinning mill. This sequence illustrates how the site’s use changed over time. Another historic site is the chapel on Rue du Docteur Le Roy, in Notre Dame des Champs cemetery.
Park, walks and swimming pool
At Parc Georges Pellerin, you’ll find children’s play equipment such as hopscotch, a slide and a swing. Visitors can also observe goats, geese and goslings, ducks, a pair of swans, as well as other birds, aquatic animals, insects and nocturnal animals. The play equipment and wildlife watching give the park a different focus from a walk or a visit to the swimming pool.
The banks of the Cailly and numerous wooded areas are highlighted as places to go for walks. This lets you choose between spending time in the park and enjoying outdoor activities during your stay, without presenting these options as a specific route. If the park’s facilities or the swimming pool are important to your plans, check the latest information before your visit.
The municipal swimming pool has a 250 m² stainless-steel pool and a 50 m² auxiliary pool. The latter is accessible via a ramp suitable for people with reduced mobility. Activities include swimming lessons, aquajogging, aquagym and aquafins. The pool therefore offers both different types of pools and guided aquatic activities. Facilities and class schedules may change over time, so check the latest information in advance if you have specific plans.
Getting there and a themed route
For getting around town, Réseau Astuce bus route 529 stops at several locations in Malaunay, including in front of the town hall at Place de la Laïcité.
