Visitors looking to combine culture and activity in Ceton will find historic buildings, a 6 km nature trail and a range of leisure activities. Options range from architectural history and fishing to dance evenings and rides on all-terrain electric scooters.
Historic buildings in Ceton
The Château de Beauvais is a fortified house in the Perche region. It was built towards the end of the 16th century on the site of a medieval castle first mentioned in the 12th century. Today, only the two round towers in the southeast remain: the left-hand tower houses a dovecote, while the right-hand one serves as a chapel. The surviving enclosure and the two towers have been partially listed as Monuments historiques since 26 June 1992.
The Manoir du Mont-Gâteau is also partially listed as a Monument historique. The protected elements are the residential building and the barn’s façades and roofs. Further building phases can be seen at the Église Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens: the nave dates from the 15th century; a former 13th-century monks’ chapel was opened onto the nave in 1808. The church also has a keep and bells dating from the 11th century.
