Pullay is best understood through its trails and its local connection to apples: the Voie Verte runs for around six kilometres through the commune, and the Les Bois Francs circular trail starts in the village. There is also the Church of Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais and an apple festival held every October. When planning a stay, you can weigh up time outdoors, architectural history and a seasonal event.

Trails with different characteristics

The Voie Verte runs for a total of 8.5 kilometres from Verneuil d’Avre et d’Iton to the village of Les Barils; around six kilometres of it pass through Pullay. The section through Pullay is fully paved and open to bicycles, scooters, roller skates, pushchairs and pedestrians. This section of the route is therefore designed for different ways of getting around. When planning your days outdoors, you can distinguish this linear route between two places from a circular trail.

The Les Bois Francs circular trail is 10.5 kilometres long, suitable for walking and mountain biking, and starts in Pullay at 2 Rue des Rossignols. It connects with the Voie Verte and the GR 22. This gives you a choice of different route types: the Voie Verte connects Verneuil d’Avre et d’Iton with Les Barils, while Les Bois Francs is designated as a circular trail. The stated distances help you plan your route without treating the two options as equivalent.

Forest and architectural history

The commune of Pullay includes 400 hectares of forest known as Les Bois Francs. This connection with the forest adds another dimension to the practical details of planning a route through the commune. A circular trail also bears the name Les Bois Francs; its length and starting point are separate details to consider when planning a walk or mountain-bike ride.

The Church of Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais brings together a clear dedication and an architectural history that developed over an extended period. It is dedicated to the twin saints Gervais and Protais. In the southern side aisle, the 16th-century roof features finely crafted sculpted elements. The protected status also covers different areas and dates: the southern side aisle was protected in July 1932, while the entire church has been listed since September 2011. The two dates therefore refer to different areas.

Apples and an October event

Another local feature is Pullay’s heritage orchard. It has 16 apple trees trained as spindles for eating apples, as well as 15 half-standard trees for cider apples. These different tree forms and uses give the apple theme a tangible dimension alongside the annual village festival. The heritage orchard is a distinct local attraction; the festival offers a seasonal reason to choose when to travel.

The FĂŞte de la Pomme et du Terroir takes place every October. Its listed activities include carriage rides, the presence of craftspeople and children from the village collecting apples. Individual events may vary. If you want to plan your stay around the festival, check the specific dates before travelling. This distinguishes October as the recurring time of year from the festival dates planned for each edition.

Plan your journey and accommodation

Pullay can be reached via the RN 12 national road, which connects Paris with Brittany. For rail travel, the Paris–Granville line is listed, with a stop at Verneuil d’Avre et d’Iton station, from which Pullay can be reached. Check connections for your travel dates in advance. This will help you coordinate your journey with your choice of routes and travel dates.

The differences between a circular trail and a connecting route, and between the cultural and seasonal themes, provide practical guidance. You can then match your choice of accommodation to your own travel plans.
