Breux-sur-Avre offers three clearly distinct ways to plan a trip: Saint-Germain Church and its cultural heritage, the aviation events of 18 June 1922, and routes for walkers and cyclists. For the routes, details about duration, length and course help put them into perspective. The municipality also forms part of the “La Vallée de l’Avre” area. This means there is scope to explore everything from sacred objects and local history to specific route measurements; the walking trail and véloroute represent different ways to discover the surrounding area.

Saint-Germain Church and Sacred Art

Saint-Germain Church is part of the local cultural heritage. In a notice dated 6 March 2025, the municipality reported on a restoration programme to preserve it. The parish church houses Processional Banner No. 1. A statue of Saint Fiacre is also part of the sacred art collection; it is made of carved, painted and polychrome wood. For those interested in culture, these are two distinct points of interest: the preservation of a church building and the design of sacred objects. In the statue, carving and painting complement each other; “polychrome” describes its multicoloured design.

Aviation History and Two Local Sites

On 18 June 1922, 34 aircraft landed at La Troudière during the Aéro-Club de France’s first air rally. On the same day, the “les 104 au 104” rally brought 104 participants by air to kilometre 104 of the national highway from Paris to Rennes. The kilometre marker is in Bois Joly, within the municipality of Breux-sur-Avre. The two local sites are distinct: La Troudière is where the aircraft landed, while Bois Joly is where the targeted kilometre marker is located. This makes the landing and the second rally’s destination separate historical points of interest.

Walking and Cycling: Different Scales

The Les Bouviers circular walking trail starts at the town hall in Breux-sur-Avre. It is 9 km long, with an average duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The signposted L’Avre à vélo cycling route also passes through Breux-sur-Avre. As the departmental Véloroute V300, it is 64 km long in total and runs from Armentières-sur-Avre to Montreuil. These are different units for planning: Les Bouviers has a stated time for completing the loop, while the véloroute can be assessed by its total distance and endpoints. This lets you compare a walk with a stated average duration with a longer cycling route whose endpoints are named.

Breux-sur-Avre in the “La Vallée de l’Avre” Area

Breux-sur-Avre is part of the continental type 2 ZNIEFF area “La Vallée de l’Avre”. The name places the municipality in a natural setting associated with the Avre Valley and adds a landscape perspective to the information about the church and aviation events. This area-wide perspective differs from the routes’ starting points and distances: it situates the place within a broader geographical context.

Accommodation Near Walking Routes

The La Troudière guesthouse is 2 km from the GR22 and lies on the route to Mont-Saint-Michel. These are two specific points of reference when choosing a place to stay: the distance to the GR22 and its connection to the route to Mont-Saint-Michel. If you include either route in your travel plans, you can assess the accommodation based on its relationship to that route. This helps you decide which connection matters for your stay.
