Lagrave offers a range of reasons to visit: walking routes, cultural history and the recurring Marchés gourmands. When planning, it helps to distinguish between them: the routes combine exercise with local themes, the historical sites have different forms of access, and the Marchés take place on specific event dates. This gives you an initial overview of which activities suit your interests and where you should arrange a visit in advance.

Walking Routes and the River Landscape

The Grand Tour de Lagrave is a 14 km circular route that can be completed on foot or by bicycle and is also suitable for families. Information boards along the route provide information about the village, the château, the Rivières dam, the vineyard and local fauna. If you would like to combine exercise with information about the area and its surroundings, the route offers several points of interest. Check the route details before setting out.

The Sainte-Sigolène loop has a different focus: it runs along the Saudronne stream and the banks of the Tarn. The route reaches a landscaped green space near a bridge with a slipway for launching boats. From there, you can see the silhouette of the château, and an information board describes the river’s wildlife. This sets the loop apart from the Grand Tour, with its boards on several local themes, through its connection to the waterways and its view of the château. Route conditions may change with the seasons, so check them before your outing; you should also check the slipway on site.

Troclar and Sainte-Sigolène

Troclar lies on the banks of the Tarn and is now part of Lagrave. Archaeological research by Jean Lautier, Marie-Claude and Pierre Cabot confirmed the presence there of a monastery, a necropolis and a church with the crypt of Saint Sigolène. The monastery, necropolis and church represent different aspects of the area’s history: religious communal life, burial and sacred architecture. Together, they present Troclar as a historical site with several layers, rather than reducing it to the crypt alone.

The municipality has built a cultural centre housing the medieval museum and the Sainte-Sigolène Archaeological Crypt; both are open to visitors. The remains of the Sainte-Sigolène Crypt, classified as a historic monument, are located at the cemetery. Visits to these remains are possible by request; arrange your visit in advance.

Lagrave Gourmet Markets

The Marchés gourmands de Lagrave are recurring events; the 2026 edition was the twelfth. Producers and caterers offered grilled dishes and specialities from a range of culinary traditions, while music played throughout the evening. If you are planning your trip around the markets, check the dates for your preferred travel period in advance.
