The Château d’Odos dominates the central esplanade and makes a striking historical statement. Odos also offers a range of reasons to stay: architecture and local history, leisure facilities in the Bouscarou neighbourhood, horse-riding activities and a walking route with views of the Pyrenees range. When planning your visit, it is worth keeping these attractions distinct. The Château is not open to visitors, but its façades can be viewed from two named locations. Those seeking scenery and outdoor activity will find a different focus in the Circuit de Lapassade than in the historic buildings.

The Château and Church: Odos’ Historic Side

The Château d’Odos stands on the Motte Soubirane. A stone castle has been documented there since the 12th century, particularly between 1249 and 1256. Its terracotta decoration also makes the building noteworthy: it was created by the Toulouse architect Vireband and is the only work by this artist in the département. The decoration was one of the reasons the Château was added to the supplementary inventory of historic monuments in 2006. The building therefore has two distinct historical points of reference: the documented history of the stone castle and its later heritage designation.

The Château cannot be visited inside. The façades can be viewed from the north, from the former courtyard of the outbuildings, which is now a public square. To the south, the Petite Rue du Château offers another place to view the façades. These specific options make it possible to plan a visit around the exterior, rather than expecting to go inside.

Odos Church also has a clearly defined place in local history: it underwent extensive restoration between 1850 and 1860. In 1858, the restored church was open to worshippers. These dates describe the restoration and access at the time; they form a separate part of the town’s history alongside the much older history of the Château.

Leisure and Nature in Bouscarou and the Surrounding Area

Parc du Galopio is in the Bouscarou neighbourhood and offers public leisure facilities. Amenities include a multisport court, children’s play areas, a boules court, two table-tennis tables, a promenade, exercise equipment and picnic tables. The park therefore caters to different activities: space for sports, play areas, and places to stroll or take a break at a picnic table. Those looking for another way to enjoy the outdoors can also visit the educational Parcours du Galopio in Bouscarou.

This trail consists of four information boards along the stream that flows through the Bouscarou neighbourhood and introduces visitors to local natural heritage. The boards give the riverside walk a thematic focus; Parc du Galopio and the trail thus offer different ways to enjoy leisure activities and explore nature. Ecuries du Bouscarou also offers horse-riding activities with 60 horses and ponies. They are designed to help visitors discover or rediscover riding, or improve their skills.

The Circuit de Lapassade passes through a rural setting with wooded and open sections and offers beautiful views of the Pyrenees range. The alternation of woodland and open areas shapes the route’s described landscape. For travel to the Circuit, TLP Mobilités line T10 is listed, with a stop at 603 Mairie. Check the timetable before your visit, as schedules may change.

Events and Local Access

“Samedi, ça te dit?” has been held on the second Saturday of each month from April to October since 2022. The event brings together food trucks, travelling vendors and local orchestras; people from places outside Odos also attend. If the event is important to your travel plans, check the dates for the year of your trip. This lets you plan your visit around the actual event days without assuming it takes place daily.

The municipal bulletin published in July 2024 describes the Jardin de la MJC as a public place for relaxation and socialising outside childcare hours. Confirm this access arrangement before your visit. Together with the event dates, these specific conditions are among the main factors to consider when planning your day in Odos.
