From the Table d’orientation de Lugan, the view stretches far across the Ségala valleys and takes in several picturesque villages, including Quins, Sauveterre de Rouergue, Gramond and Naucelle. The archaeological site of Jalenques, Romanesque architecture, and opportunities for hiking or listening to stories add specific cultural and activity themes to this landscape. This lets you choose what to do in Quins according to your own interests, without making every activity the same kind of experience.
Jalenques: archaeological traces and visit duration
The historic and archaeological site of Jalenques includes castle ruins, several houses, a bread oven and other traces of the past. Together, the ruins, houses and oven reveal different traces in one place. Visits last about 1 to 1.5 hours. From the parking area on the D524, a footpath of about 500 metres leads to the site. Group visits for 10 to 30 people can be arranged as needed; please arrange your visit in advance.
Chapels and local collections
The Saint-Clair de Verdun site was open year-round; group visits were available by appointment. The game «Eliette à Saint-Clair de Verdun» can be played with a downloadable clue booklet, but only during the opening hours of the Chapelle Saint-Clair de Verdun. Check the opening hours to suit your visit.
The Chapelle Saint-Vincent de Lugan is a Romanesque chapel that has been restored several times; restorations took place, among other years, in 1643 and 1960. The «Reconstitution d’une épicerie d’antan» offers a different glimpse into the past: a collection of 20th-century household items creates a vintage atmosphere.
Listen to stories and get out and about
The «Oreilles en balade» trail is available throughout 2026. Call in by phone to hear stories from local residents about the Ségala and the chapels of Quins. This listening experience offers a different emphasis from the sweeping views at the Table d’orientation or the architectural traces at Jalenques.
La Ferme des Andes offers a circular route with llamas lasting about 1.5 hours and starting at the farm. La Quinsoise is an annual public hike open to everyone. You can choose between a long 15 km route and a short 11 km route; in the afternoon, everyone follows a shared 9 km route. The two route lengths differ by 4 km. Routes and schedules may vary from one edition to another; check the details for the relevant edition before taking part.
The annual «Fête des Jardins» in Jalenques offers guided tours of the Château and its rescue and restoration work. Dates and programmes may change from one edition to another, so check the latest details before travelling.
Shape your getaway around one specific interest instead of trying to fit as many different activities as possible into a single day.
