Prévinquières combines a medieval village setting with discoveries along the Aveyron. Half-timbered houses, traces of history and various activities by the river and in the valley give the commune several distinct facets. When planning your trip, you can choose between architectural history in the village, observing nature on the riverbank, fishing and a cycling loop across the valley’s heights.

Half-timbered houses and traces of history

One half-timbered house in Prévinquières dates from 1451. Le Tinal is a typical half-timbered building from the 15th and 16th centuries. A single year is central to the story of one house, while Le Tinal is associated with a period spanning two centuries. These different timeframes make half-timbered architecture tangible through two specific examples.

A defensive tower and its gateway remain as vestiges of the 15th-century fortifications. The gate on the south side of a former tall, square tower leads into the village belonging to the “small castle.” The original Saint-Martin Church is also part of the village’s long history: it is mentioned in a cartulary of Conques Abbey dating from 976. This takes the history of Prévinquières back to the 10th century.

You can follow the Oreilles en balade route on site by scanning QR codes. This is a practical way to find your bearings while exploring the village.

By the Aveyron: nature, fishing and relaxation

A riverside interpretation trail for walkers lies along the Aveyron within the commune of Prévinquières. Interpretive materials help visitors discover the local flora and fauna of this natural riverside setting. Above the medieval village, the orientation board at Calvaire offers views over the Aveyron Valley. The two locations have different purposes: the riverside trail focuses on local nature, while the board provides an overview of the valley.

At the Aue de la Buobe on the Aveyron, a facility has been set up specifically for anglers. It includes an accessible fishing platform with the “Tourisme et Handicap” label and a table for people with reduced mobility. The La Mouline recreation area is also on the Aveyron; it offers space for picnics and relaxation. The difference is clear when choosing a riverside stop: Aue de la Buobe is for anglers, while La Mouline is for visitors looking for a place to picnic and relax.

Cycling and local produce

An easy 10.35 km loop for mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes runs through Prévinquières. The elevation gain is 364 m. The route crosses the heights of the Aveyron Valley and passes through the La Mouline recreation area on the riverbank. You can assess this cycling option from its stated details and combine it with a visit to the riverside area.

Local agriculture is another feature of the area. Domaine de Pastoure sells beef and veal directly from Aubrac cattle raised traditionally and naturally with their mothers. This direct sales outlet adds a specific connection to local production to the architectural and landscape themes.
