Discover Plombières-Les-Bains through its thermal history, gardens and outdoor activities. The town combines architectural heritage from its spa-town heyday with a range of attractions: miniature architecture at Parc Impérial, landscaped terraces and a marked hiking trail. You can focus your stay on history and townscape, or on gardens and natural areas.

Thermal history and townscape

The development of Plombières-Les-Bains is closely linked to Emperor Napoleon III: he extensively modernized the spa town and created the Thermes Napoléon. The underground vestibule of the Bain Romain preserves four Gallo-Roman steps and its interior furnishings; since 10 April 2001, the vestibule has been listed as a historic monument by decree.

The collections of the Musée Louis Français include material on the thermal history of Plombières-Les-Bains, as well as numerous paintings, drawings and engravings by Louis Français, who was born in Plombières. The museum is currently closed to the public for renovation work; this status is stated in the Ministry of Culture notice last updated on 11 May 2026. The CALODAÉ wellness center is also currently closed, and no reopening date is known. If visiting either of these places is important to your travel plans, check the latest status before planning your trip.

The townscape features wrought-iron balconies and staircases, as well as narrow, terraced streets. Plombières-les-Bains is known for these architectural features.

Gardens and outdoor activities

Parc des Miniatures covers more than 6,000 m² within Parc Impérial. It features miniature reproductions of architectural monuments from Alsace and Lorraine. Opening is seasonal, so check the dates of your visit in advance.

Accro'Terrasses offers a different kind of activity in a protected forest above Plombières-les-Bains. It has three adventure courses with rope obstacles and zip lines. Opening depends on the season and weather; check current conditions for your planned visit. While Parc des Miniatures showcases regional buildings in miniature, Accro'Terrasses focuses on its courses.

Les Jardins en Terrasses overlook Plombières and combine vegetable gardens, art and play areas with an open-air theater. Throughout the year, they offer visits with tastings of garden produce, as well as educational workshops, classes, exhibitions and aperitif concerts. The program is seasonal and may change; check specific dates and offerings before your trip.

Natural surroundings and hiking

The Parc naturel régional des Ballons des Vosges extends into Plombières-les-Bains. It protects the diverse habitats of the Vosges massif and their rich wildlife and plant life.

The hike to Fontaine Stanislas is 10 kilometers long, takes about three hours, has an elevation gain of 250 meters and is marked with blue rings. The route, approximate duration and elevation gain provide practical guidance for planning your time. Check trail conditions and markings locally before planning the hike.
