Panoramic Views at Spiémont
At Spiémont, two viewpoints offer views of the Vosges: the geodetic signal station and the viewing table. Both provide a panorama of the blue line of the Vosges and the valleys of the Vologne, Neuné and Barba. You can visit both on a self-guided visit via marked trails. This lets you combine two named points of interest with the same landscape focus: distant views of the Vosges ridge and views into three valleys. If you choose Champdray primarily for its views, Spiémont offers a specific highlight for your stay.
Church and Hike
Notre-Dame de la Nativité, a 19th-century church, stands in the village centre. Of its three bells, the largest is listed as a historic monument. The protected status therefore applies to the bell, while the date refers to the church building. This gives the village centre a clear cultural and historical connection alongside its landscape appeal. The “Le Spiémont” hike starts at a small public car park just before the church. Two specific landmarks are therefore named for planning your visit: the church in the village centre and the car park at the start of the hike.
Distance and Elevation Gain
The hike is 3.5 km long and has 100 m of elevation gain. The distance and elevation gain complement each other: the distance indicates how long the route is, while the second figure provides an additional indication of its elevation profile. This comparison helps you assess the hike not only by kilometres, but also by taking the elevation gain into account when planning. Trail conditions may vary by season, so check the route conditions before setting out. This way, you can take into account both the stated route figures and the conditions on the day of your visit.
Climbing and Snowshoeing
Vue d'en haut Vosges offers climbing instruction and via ferrata in Champdray, including introductory and advanced courses. When planning, you can first consider the type of activity and then the advertised course level. Unlike the hike, for which the distance and elevation gain are specified, the climbing offer is described by activity and course level. This means there are two questions to consider: Which activity are you looking for, and which of the available levels suits your plans?
Snowshoeing is also part of the winter offering. Frédérique Zeidler – Randonnées raquettes offers snowshoe hikes for beginners and advanced participants. There are also special snowshoe outings for families with children aged three and over, as well as outings for people with reduced mobility that are accessible using a ski-sledge wheelchair. When planning, consider the different details: the level, the age limit for the family offer and the specified mobility aid. If one of these options is important for your stay, check the current offer details for your preferred dates in advance.
