The Étang du Stock is the second-largest artificial lake in Lorraine. In Langatte, water activities and trails through varied landscapes sit alongside wellness, culture and local food in the surrounding area. Planning also means taking conditions into account: swimming is unsupervised, water activities may be seasonal, and trail conditions can change.

Water activities and beach views

Langatte’s leisure centre is on the shores of the Étang du Stock. Swimming, canoeing and pedal boating are available there; availability may vary by season. Swimming is permitted, but is unsupervised. Check the conditions before your visit and do not assume that swimming is supervised.

The beach in Langatte is a landscaped green beach with a well-maintained, sandy entrance to the water. It offers panoramic views of the Étang du Stock. The lake is therefore both a focal point for water activities and part of the beach’s scenic appeal.

Circular routes with different landmarks

The Circuit de Langatte starts at the Étang du Stock, is just over seven kilometres long and runs between the water and the forest. The route also follows the banks of the Saar Canal. Allow about two hours and 15 minutes for the circular walk. The distance indicates the length of the route, while the approximate duration is a guide to the time needed. Trail conditions can change, so check them before setting out.

The Circulaire Langatte has a different stated landmark: access is via Langatte and then the Auberge du Stock. The circular walk ends at a dam, from which visitors can see the Maison forte. It was intended to house armed men during unsettled times and protect the dam against possible acts of sabotage. The view of the building connects the end of the route with its historic defensive purpose.

Wellness and other activities

The Centre de bien-être is part of the Langatte leisure complex at the Étang du Stock. Facilities include pools with massage jets, a whirlpool, saunas and a hammam. This provides a dedicated wellness option alongside the water activities. Operating arrangements can change, so check in advance which facilities are available during your visit.

Another activity is bar bowling at the Domaine de Langatte, which has six bowling lanes with electronic scoring. Bowling can be included as a separate activity, whether or not you are interested in hiking or water activities. Check the current opening hours before your visit.

Local food in the surrounding area

Outside the village, on the road towards Morhange, the Ferme des Friches operates a direct-sales outlet in the Langatte area. The products include dairy items and other local foods: jams, charcuterie, meat, poultry and eggs. If you would like to include local produce in your plans during your stay, this is a specific place to visit. Check the opening arrangements before travelling there.
