Brulange brings together several distinct themes: the 18th-century Église Saint-Maurice, the history of the former settlement of Gondremange, and a local embroidery and weaving business. The village also has five guest rooms in a characterful house dating from 1850. History and crafts give a stay a different focus from the question of accommodation; both can be considered separately when choosing a destination. Part of the village’s history leads back to the former settlement of Gondremange.

Gondremange and the former settlement site

Archaeological remains in the territory of Brulange show that the settlement known as Gondremange was located somewhere other than the present-day village. A small medieval fortified castle stood at the former site. The vanished village of Gondremange and its castle were 500 metres from Brulange, in the direction of Arraincourt. This distinction is important to the local history: Gondremange was a former settlement in a different location, not simply an older name for the present-day village. The archaeological traces and the castle therefore belong to a separate historical point of reference.

18th-century church

The Église Saint-Maurice dates from the 18th century, making it a different historical point of reference from the medieval castle near Gondremange. The two periods can be considered side by side in the area’s history without confusing the former settlement with the present-day village. If you would like to visit the church, check access locally.

Embroidery, weaving and handmade products

Le Monde Maud'Est is a craft business in Brulange specialising in embroidery and weaving. It makes unique handmade items such as belt bags, cases and bags for children. The range also includes environmentally friendly everyday products: reusable household cloths, tea bags, makeup-removal or cleansing cloths, and washable colouring books. The examples therefore range from bags and cases to reusable everyday items.

Products are sold locally and are also available at craft markets. Participation in markets may vary depending on the date and availability; the range and sales arrangements may also change. If you are planning around a particular item, check in advance whether it is available.

A choucroute meal and a multisport area

The Brulange church council organises a choucroute meal every two years to raise funds for the upkeep of the church. The event combines a local meal with a specific purpose: preserving the church. If you would like to plan your trip around the meal, check in advance whether a date falls within your travel period.

Brulange also has a multisport area. It adds a sporting point of interest in the village to its historical and craft themes.

Accommodation and historical periods

For overnight stays, Brulange has five guest rooms in a characterful house dating from 1850. Availability may change; check before booking. The year 1850 is later than both the 18th-century church and the medieval fortified castle near Gondremange. These different historical periods add a historical dimension to choosing the destination, while the five guest rooms provide a specific accommodation option.
