A 1.5 km family circular trail, an approximately 10 km nature trail and a 27.1 km trail and mountain biking route give Vignot a clear profile for trips focused on trails and nature. There are also other walks with views, a fitness trail and a sensory trail. The options differ in length and purpose, so you can first decide whether a circular walk, exercise, longer hiking routes or learning about nature should be your priority.

Understanding the natural setting and trails

Vignot lies on the doorstep of the Parc Naturel Régional de Lorraine. The municipality also contains two areas designated as Natura 2000 sites. The information distinguishes between two scales: Vignot’s relationship with the nature park and the designation of the areas within the municipality. Each trail has its own focus, offering a different way to experience the area’s connection with nature.

Compare routes by length and purpose

The purpose of each route can also help with your comparison: the 1.5 km family trail is a circular route, while the 4.6 km fitness trail has six exercise stations. Other accessible walks of between 6 and 13 km offer views of Vignot, the surrounding municipalities and the former quarries of Euville. This gives you a choice of different formats: a circular route, a trail with exercise stations or walks with views. The distances help you compare them, while their different focuses offer another practical way to decide.

The Vignot ENS trail is approximately 10 km long and features 21 educational panels introducing visitors to the local ecosystem. Its approximate length places it within the 6 to 13 km range of the other walks; its distinguishing feature is the panels’ nature education focus. A specially designed sensory trail adds another kind of experience to the options. Along with distance, you can therefore consider whether you are looking for exercise, nature education or a sensory trail.

Village history and the washhouse

Vignot is a former wine-growing village. The Lavoir de Vignot, a building constructed from ashlar in the 19th century, stands on Place Charles de Gaulle. A series of stained-glass windows on the main façade makes the building very bright. The washhouse has an indoor basin and another basin outside, beside the façade. Both are supplied by a fountain featuring a cherub with mutilated limbs. Its date of construction, ashlar, windows and two basins give the building a distinctive architectural character and a tangible connection to the village’s history.

The Vignot media library organises a range of cultural activities in the washhouse hall on Place Charles de Gaulle, including a French Sign Language (LSF) workshop. As the programme may change, check the dates if you would like to include a specific event in your stay.

Plan your journey
