Igney offers several distinct points of interest for a stay: Le Haut des Ailes combines the theme of wind energy with an exhibition and walking trail, while the village church offers insights into local history and stained glass. As you consider which experiences you want to shape your visit, you can choose between technology and the project's history, a route through the countryside, and ecclesiastical heritage.

Le Haut des Ailes consists of three wind farms in Lorraine. The wind farm complex spans four communes in two départements: Igney, Amenoncourt and Repaix are in the Meurthe-et-Moselle département, and Foulcrey is in the Moselle département. Igney is therefore part of an area that extends beyond a single commune. This geographical context helps distinguish the name of the wind farm complex from the individual village.

Wind Energy in the Exhibition and on the Walking Trail

The Le Haut des Ailes exhibition hall is open to all visitor groups. It provides information about wind energy and the project's development through to its completion. Check the visitor arrangements before you travel. The exhibition therefore offers both an introduction to energy and an overview of how the project progressed.

The Haut des Ailes walking trail passes through the wind farm, which has a total of 22 wind turbines. It starts in Igney at the car park and runs towards Repaix. A report from May 2021 mentions green circles as trail markers; as markings can change, check the waymarking before setting out. In clear weather, the trail offers panoramic views of the Donon massif.

The exhibition and the trail have different focal points: the hall centres on wind energy and project development, while outdoors, the turbines are seen in their landscape. In clear weather, the view of the Donon massif adds a panorama beyond the immediate surroundings. You can therefore explore Le Haut des Ailes either through the information presented or by following the walking trail.

Church History and Stained-Glass Windows

Igney church was destroyed during the bombings of September 1944. While funds for its reconstruction were being raised, a wooden church was built temporarily for the parishioners. Local history thus includes both the destruction and the interim period, when the community used a temporary church.

The church is considered the focal point of the community. Its interior is illuminated by six stained-glass windows with geometric motifs; the choir features two stained-glass windows by the Benoît workshop in Nancy. Those interested in artistic details will find two distinct aspects here: the geometric design of the windows and the specific attribution of the choir windows to a workshop. The stained glass thus adds an artisanal perspective on the church to its history of reconstruction.
