For a trip to Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via, winter sports and cultural heritage offer different areas of focus. Winter sports include the Font-Romeu Pyrénées 2000 ski area, the Domaine nordique de Font-Romeu and a biathlon offering. Cultural and historical highlights include the Musée sans Murs, the Église Saint-Martin d’Odeillo, the Chapelle de l’Ermitage and the Four Solaire d’Odeillo.

Winter sports: ski slopes, cross-country trails and biathlon

The Font-Romeu Pyrénées 2000 ski area extends from 1,712 to 2,213 m in altitude and covers 46 kilometres of slopes across 41 runs. Its lift system includes 24 lifts, including a gondola that provides access to the start of the slopes in the Airelles area. Details about the facilities may change if the ski area changes or from one season to the next.

The ski area also has two beginner zones with five runs, two toboggan runs and a snow tubing area. This configuration may change from one season to the next. The Domaine nordique de Font-Romeu is laid out differently: it has 111 km of groomed and marked trails and routes, divided into 22 loops. Of these, seven are green, ten blue and five red. Grooming and provision of the trails and routes, as well as the availability of individual loops, may vary by season.

The Stade de biathlon de Font-Romeu has a 2.2 km roller-ski track with four loops. The biathlon offering combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting and is suitable from age eight. Access and course configuration may change; availability of the offering and age rules may also vary. Check these details before making specific plans.

Cultural history and places at a glance

The Musée sans Murs is free and open year-round; check access information again before your trip. Its 1.2 km route features more than 40 sequential displays, and the collection may continue to evolve. An easy-to-walk path with a gentle incline leads from the centre of Font-Romeu to the Ermitage.

The Ermitage de Font-Romeu is a pilgrimage site associated with the veneration of Notre-Dame de Font-Romeu; the statue is attributed to the 13th century. The Chapelle de l’Ermitage de Font-Romeu is listed in the inventory of historic monuments and houses listed 18th-century furnishings in the Catalan Baroque style.

The Église Saint-Martin d’Odeillo preserves a carved Romanesque portal and an altarpiece depicting the life of Saint Martin. It was probably built in the Romanesque style in the 9th century. It is about 1,355 m on foot from Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via station; the walk takes approximately 16 minutes, or less than 20 minutes. Local access conditions may change.

The Four Solaire d’Odeillo is one of the six buildings in Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via classified or listed as historic monuments.
