Antrenas offers a range of highlights for a trip: a very easy hiking trail with distinctive rocks and views, a mountain biking loop with a stated duration, and horse-riding and farm activities. There is also the history of a farm and local traditions. The different activities can be distinguished by their individual features.

Hiking and Mountain Biking

“Le tour du Rouchat” is a very easy hiking trail in Antrenas. It leads to the large Rouchats, the area’s distinctive rocks. From the highest point on the route, the panorama stretches across the Marvejols basin to Truc du Midi and Truc de Saint-Bonnet; the Causses can also be seen in the distance. The trailhead parking area is opposite the former school in Fabrèges.

Another option is the “Les trois villages – VTT n°5” mountain biking loop. It starts at the parking area in front of Antrenas church and is 23.1 km long. It is rated as moderate, has a stated duration of two hours and reaches a maximum elevation of 1,240 m. When planning your ride, you can consider the route length, duration and maximum elevation together. By comparison, “Le tour du Rouchat” is described as a very easy hiking trail, so the two routes can be distinguished by activity and stated difficulty.

Horse-Riding Activities and Farm

Ferme Equestre du Mazel is located at the foot of the Aubrac in Antrenas. Horse-riding lessons, courses, rides and horseback tours with horses and ponies are offered year-round. Check the specific arrangements again before your visit so that your plans match the activities available.

At La ferme du Mazel, visitors can tour the farm, meet the animals and their young, and watch the milking. The farm visit is offered year-round. It gives your stay an agricultural focus alongside the trails: instead of exploring the area only on foot or by mountain bike, you can also get a glimpse of everyday life on the farm.

Farm History and Local Tradition

The museum at La ferme du Mazel traces the farm’s history from 1862 through agricultural tools and equipment. Its historical scope runs from animal traction to the beginnings of mechanization. The equipment makes changes in agricultural work the museum’s central theme and adds a historical perspective to a visit to the farm.

Local history also connects different periods. Antrenas was originally a seigneurie owned by the Barons of Peyre until 1435. According to a local legend, the legendary dog Géant hunted wolves and protected herds in 1417.

Landscape Around Antrenas

From the area around the village of Antrenas, there are wide views over the Marvejols valley and of the privately owned Château de Crespin. The agricultural hamlet of Hammeau de Fabrèges is also part of the landscape: it lies on a mountainside at an elevation of 840 m. The valley view, château and hamlet offer different perspectives on the surroundings, without needing to be connected into a specific route.
