Janvry can be discovered through two very different sides: the village is home to a large animal park, while the church of Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel preserves historic treasures. There is also a distinct seasonal rhythm: the FĂȘte de la Pomme takes place in September, while Janvry Plage was a feature of summer 2026. If you are looking for a destination with nature, village life and culture, you can weigh these aspects against one another when choosing your stay. The timing of your trip also determines which side of Janvry takes centre stage.

The Parc animalier: animals, playground and picnic tables

The Parc animalier de Janvry is a six-hectare green enclave in the village, home to more than a hundred animals. It is open to the public free of charge every day, year-round, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. As opening hours can change, check the latest information before your visit. The park also has a children's playground and picnic tables. So, alongside animal watching, visitors can enjoy a play area and a place to take a break outdoors. This combination makes the park a destination in its own right when planning a trip; the stated opening hours provide a useful guide to timing your visit.

Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel: several layers of history

The church of Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel was rebuilt in 1639. It contains a 17th-century wooden altarpiece. The Stations of the Cross, a gift from Napoleon III, and the painting of the Virgin and Child are also associated with the church; both are listed in the supplementary heritage inventory. Another feature is the tombstone of Jehan de Baillon, who died in 1567. The dates refer to different things: 1567 is Baillon's year of death, 1639 is the year of the rebuilding, and the 17th century is the period to which the altarpiece dates. Alongside its natural attractions, Janvry thus offers a clear focus on local and art history.

Apple festival in September, summer offering in 2026

The FĂȘte de la Pomme takes place in September. Schoolchildren pick the apples, the village community presses them, and the resulting apple juice is sold door to door in the village. The tradition therefore brings together harvesting, processing and selling. If you are travelling to Janvry specifically for the festival, check the exact event date in advance.

A different seasonal highlight was Janvry Plage: in summer 2026, it opened daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for more than two months, starting on 27 June; swimming ended at 6:30 p.m. The 2026 offering included a sandy area with 190 tonnes of sand, palm and coconut trees, deckchairs and tables, table tennis tables, a bar, gentle music, a large inflatable swimming pool and barbecue events every two weeks. The two seasonal events are therefore quite different: the FĂȘte de la Pomme takes place in September, while Janvry Plage was a feature of summer 2026. For a future trip, check the dates and opening hours in effect at that time.

A practical booking requirement

A telephone reservation is required for La Table des Gaulois. If you plan to include this venue in your itinerary, arrange your visit by phone in advance. This is a different planning requirement from that of the Parc animalier, whose public opening hours provide a time frame for visiting.
