In San-Giuliano, coastal landscapes, village life and architectural history come together. This gives you more than one focus for your trip: you can get to know the area through its beaches, narrow lanes or architectural heritage. The municipality stretches from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the foothills of Mont Castello d'Osari. The hamlets of Favalello and Carreggia lie on the slopes.

Coast and landscape

There are three beaches along the coast; San-Giuliano offers miles of sandy beaches. The coast and the foothills of Mont Castello d'Osari form two distinct sides of the municipality. If landscape is your main consideration when choosing a destination, this contrast is a good starting point: the sea and beaches offer a clear coastal focus, while the slopes provide a different perspective on the area. The village's narrow lanes add a historic village layout to this landscape, one you can explore on foot.

Lanes and sacred architecture

In the village of San-Giuliano, you can explore the narrow lanes. Tall traditional houses are part of the village's heritage and give its architecture a distinctive character. The cultural heritage also includes the parish church of Saint-Julien and the chapel of Saint-Joseph, located in Careggia within San-Giuliano. Construction of the parish church began in 1884 on the site of an older chapel. Its history therefore reaches beyond the present church building to an earlier sacred structure. Together, the village houses and churches offer different points of interest if you are interested in architecture and local history.

Historic buildings and their traces through time

The Genoese tower of Fiorentina, a lookout post in San-Giuliano, stands on Pisonaccio Beach. Construction began in 1575 and was completed in 1582; today, the lookout post is in ruins. These precise dates give the building its own historical chronology. The complex of a maison forte tells another story: its construction began in 1588. It includes a house chapel and agricultural outbuildings, some of which are in ruins. The tower and the maison forte therefore represent distinct building complexes, each with its own historical traces. On a trip focused on cultural heritage, you can explore these alongside the village architecture and sacred buildings.

Nature and visits

Wet meadows are also part of the landscape of the coastal municipalities of San-Giuliano and Cervione. They are of high ecological value for insects and birds. Yellow and pink flowers bloom there in April and May. These months provide a specific seasonal reference if you would also like to plan your trip around the wet meadows in bloom. The CRB Citrus INRAE-Cirad offers awareness-raising activities, including visits. This adds an institutional visit as a possible focus for your trip, alongside landscape and cultural heritage.

Choose the right focus

When making your choice, you can weigh up the different themes: beaches and sandy coastline, the lanes and traditional houses, or the architectural history of the churches and historic complexes. The wet meadows in bloom add a clearly defined seasonal highlight in April and May; the heritage sites, by contrast, offer a variety of architectural styles and traces of different periods. This lets you choose San-Giuliano based on the interests that matter to you, without reducing the coast, nature and history to a single theme.
