In Chisa, you can choose between very different types of activities: a via ferrata with bridges and zip lines, or Aqua Rando with jumps, slides, waterfalls and swimming. There is also Eglise San Ghjacomu and a natural landscape of pine forests and oak groves. When planning your trip, it is worth considering the time required, type of activity and the cultural features of the area separately.

Via ferrata and trails near Calanconi

The U Calanconi Via Ferrata includes a spider web, two rope bridges, three Himalayan bridges, three walkways and four zip lines. One of the Himalayan bridges is more than 30 metres long; one of the zip lines measures 230 metres. These measurements refer to different elements of the route. The ascent on the Chisa Via Ferrata takes four hours; the via ferrata is 300 metres high. When planning your time, it is important to associate the four hours with the ascent. Check the current conditions before your trip.

A different time estimate applies to the walk to the Calanconi information panels: it starts in the village of Chisa, and the ascent along the way is relatively short but somewhat steep. This is a separate planning reference and should not be equated with the four-hour duration of the via ferrata ascent. This lets you distinguish between a short, steep walk to the panels and the longer via ferrata activity.

Aqua Rando and other activities

The Aqua Rando water hike near Chisa includes jumps, slides, waterfalls and swimming. There are also natural thermal springs and large pools carved into the granite. This gives Aqua Rando a different focus from the via ferrata: here, water and granite pools shape the activity, while the via ferrata features bridges, walkways and zip lines. Check whether the activity is available on your travel dates before your trip.

Alpa Corse in Chisa also offers canyoning, water hikes, mountaineering, ski touring, climbing and via ferrata. These activities differ considerably in nature; however, the list alone does not set out a specific daily itinerary. If you would like to plan one of these activities, check in advance which options are available on the date of your visit.

Church, frescoes and landscape

Eglise San Ghjacomu dates from the 18th century. Its frescoes are attributed to ChisĂ , a contemporary painter born in Chisa. The building and the paintings therefore represent different periods: the church is an 18th-century structure, while the frescoes are attributed to a contemporary artist. This gives a visit to the area a clear cultural focus in addition to its activities.

The landscape is also described specifically: Chisa is set in a natural landscape of pine forests and oak groves. Together with the church and its frescoes, this natural setting broadens the experience beyond the activities, without presupposing any particular hiking route. Chisa’s patron saint’s festival takes place on 25 July. If your trip falls on this date, you can take the festival into account when planning your schedule.
