Tizzano brings together coastal scenery, a historic Fortin and a range of activities. The history of the Fortin de Tizzano adds a cultural dimension; the coastal path and sandy beach offer other highlights. There are also opportunities for diving and horse riding. When looking for a hotel in Tizzano, your planned activities may help shape your travel plans.

Coast, nature and beach

The Campomoro–Tizzano coastal path runs past coves, sculpted cliffs, beaches and Corsican maquis. The route brings together a variety of coastal features: rocky stretches lie alongside coves and beaches, while the maquis adds to the landscape. If you would like to include a seaside hike in your stay, this path offers a specific option.

The protected Campumoru–Senetosa natural area can be reached from the south via the coastal path from the port of Tizzano. The southern approach and the port are useful reference points when planning a visit to this natural area. The Campomoro–Tizzano coastal path, in turn, is known for its coves, cliffs, beaches and maquis.

The sandy beach of Cala d’Avena is beside the hamlet of Tizzano and is an option for families. If you are planning to focus on beach time, you can include Cala d’Avena as a specific beach destination in your travel plans. Beach conditions can change; check them before your visit.

The Fortin de Tizzano and its history

The Fortin de Tizzano developed from a Genoese tower built in the 16th century. In the second half of the 18th century, at the initiative of the Intendant of Corsica, it was expanded with a fortification featuring four round towers and a rampart walk. Its architectural development can thus be divided into an early phase with the tower and a later expansion.

A rampart walk is a passage along a fortification that can be walked on; here, it forms part of the expansion, together with the four round towers. The Fortin has been listed as a historic monument since 6 September 1985. Anyone interested in architectural history can consider its Genoese origins, later expansion and historic monument listing as distinct points of reference.

Diving and horse riding in Tizzano

Tizzano Diving Private is based at the port of Tizzano. Its offerings include private exploratory dives, introductory dives and diving courses. There are therefore several formats to choose from: a private exploratory dive, an introductory dive or a course. Ask in advance whether your preferred option is available on your chosen date.

The Centre Equestre Santu Pultru offers horse rides, one- or multi-day riding treks and introductory lessons. Horse-riding excursions start in Tizzano at a small fishing harbour. When planning your time, note in particular that the riding treks can last one or more days. Availability and booking conditions can change; check both in advance for your chosen date.

Planning your stay and hotel search

For a riding trek, you can choose a one- or multi-day format; the coastal path, beach, Fortin and diving options offer different highlights. Choose the activities that matter to you, and tailor your hotel search to your travel dates and your own plans.

The different themes do not have to follow a set order. You can focus on culture, nature, the beach or an activity, and add other interests. This lets you choose Tizzano based on what you want to focus on, without assuming that there is one set itinerary.
