Pinarellu combines a long stretch of shallow water at Pinarello Beach with a wetland, protected natural areas and watersports.

Beach, Wetland and Islands

Pinarello Beach has shallow water along a long stretch. Facilities for people with reduced mobility include a beach access mat, a beach wheelchair and accessible toilets. As these facilities may change, please check before your trip whether they are still available.

Behind Pinarellu Beach, the Padulatu pond is part of the wetland. The small island of Ruscana in Pinarello Bay is a Natura 2000 site and is protected by a ministerial biotope protection order. Access is prohibited; check the current local regulations before visiting the surrounding area.

Pinarellu Island can be reached by kayak or paddleboard; access conditions may vary depending on the weather and local rules. Juniper and maquis cover the island.

A Historic Tower with Challenging Access

The Tour de Pinarello, also known as Isoli di Corsi, was completed in 1591 and is listed as a historic monument. Together with the tower at Porto, it is one of only two square towers in southern Corsica.

The footpath to the tower is difficult. The route follows Pinarello Beach, passes through the pine grove and along the customs officers’ path; it also requires crossing a stretch of sea about one metre deep. If you plan to take this route, check the access conditions before setting out, as they may change.

Watersports: Lessons, Rentals and Guided Tours

Société Nautique de Pinarello offers wingfoil lessons and e-foil trips. It also rents out catamarans, dinghies, sea kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and wingfoils. Lessons and trips may be available seasonally; check the current availability of rental equipment before your trip.

For the 2026 season, Sporsica CĂ´te Balades offers guided sea-kayak or stand-up paddleboard trips around Pinarellu Island; availability may be seasonal. One tour includes a swimming break and a tasting of local products at the Genoese tower. Check in advance whether the seasonal tour fits your travel plans.

Exploring on Foot

An easy PR hiking trail runs along the coast between Pinarello and Vardiola. Access to the Tour de Pinarello is very different from the easy PR coastal trail: it is considered difficult and follows Pinarello Beach, passes through the pine grove and along the customs officers’ path. The route also crosses a stretch of sea about one metre deep, which is a defining feature of the way to the tower.
